November 11, 20214 yr Nice one. Good interview that. Good to see him relaxed, looking well and perhaps a bit more reflective than we're used to. Still pulls at his heart strings too.

That interview though, you never know. Age is probably against it now though, he looks really well and better for being out of it. Perhaps he could chuck a fee quid in and have a board place...
November 11, 20214 yr Might be just me but it’d be good to recognise Sam for everything, maybe name the west or north stand after him. Sure the way he left hurt at the time but he gave us memories and experiences like no other.
November 11, 20214 yr Looking at ticket availability, ESL is basically sold out unless you're on your own. That's great news of course. But getting 3 or 4 tickets together seems virtually impossible, except in the very corner of WSL. Yet they aren't selling tickets for NSL? I'm concerned people aren't going to turn up just because they can't buy the tickets. Not everyone wants to take their chances paying on the gate, no guarantee of sitting together that way and also no guarantee of not queuing for ages. I never thought it would be so hard to get tickets to our games when we have a stadium twice as big as needed for most games.

He hasn't always been a perfect example of humility and gratitude, but at the end of the day he's done as much to put this club on the world football map as anyone and it would be good to recognise that while he's still around to appreciate it.

November 11, 20214 yr The majority of the ESL and the WSL are sold out now, so must be approaching 9k or 10k sold, If 1k or 2k turn up to pay in the day in the NSL then it’ll be a decent turn out for a charity game in November. The club have got the sale of tickets for this pretty much spot on imo - unless of course more numbers than expected turn up to pay on the day, then it might get a bit chaotic. Like you say, you have got to love him. He clearly has so much love and affection for the club. And while Rioch got the good times rolling again. Big Sam well and truly took us into a different stratosphere of over achievement with world class players. Unbelievable really. Realky looking forward to Sunday, think I’ll have a few tears in my eyes.

A lot of our problems came from the contracts given out to his squad. No big spend on transfers though. Goes back to the debate at the time: whether the club should have backed him with some money to buy a player or two, or to continue with the model they had been using. With the prem money, maybe they had been reducing the debt, dunno. Once that went, we still had post BSA players on the books and the rest is history.

November 11, 20214 yr David Lee was unplayable that night, if he could shoot he’d have bagged a hat trick.
November 11, 20214 yr Do you reckon the current squad will be all the kids too so we make loads of changes? Imagine any of the local young ens getting to play on the same pitch as campo and Jay Jay! 🤣 When they used to watch em. They'll be buzzing.

I’ll pay on day it’ll save me £2.

They'd only had been one or two years old when they played for us. Christ i feel old 🤦♂️

November 11, 20214 yr Maybe they could do with selling the South Stand online and keep the North Stand for pay on the day. Edited November 11, 20214 yr by Burndens Bogs
