Red cabbage is a must too.

Another tick for Istanbul then.

Had a great shawarma in Or Akiva with our Loft, but couldn't tell you where, we were pissed.

I’ve never had a doner kebab. Just doesn’t appeal no matter how pissed I am.  But those proper kebabs are from Braza are amazing. And no I’m not gay.

Braza is ace.

That the place near the market?

If so went about 8 years ago and was worst meal I’ve ever had anywhere. Either a bad night or a different place

Yes I’m a one chance and it’s gone. It was bizarre from start to finish but reason I went is my mum and fella had been and had a cracking meal so it’s clear I had a bad experience.
had same with the crofters (I think it was) when it was a Thai?. I ended up walking out of there without paying it was that bad. Told him to ring the police as I walked off.
but next day I went back to pay after deciding I was out of order, explained why I had done what I did and offered to settle up and he knocked 50% off the bill. Which was to me an acceptance it was shit. Fair play to him. Lovely Thai bloke. Faisal akram I think 😎

They got a 1 star hygiene rating the other day. Just sayin. I'm not arsed. I'm sure I've eaten from less hygienic places at 1am before.

Most of us would have eaten out of a skip at 1am in a morning if it was the only place open at some point of our lives.

Pretty sure Hashmat Ali's wouldn't have even got on the food hygiene scoreboard but never did me any harm night after night.

At the risk of going all mumsnet and possibly reposting summat I've said before this is a belting doner recipe:

That's a slimming world recipe. I made it on Wednesday.
Tastes OK, but not like doner.

Maybe Hashmat destroyed my taste buds, I'll take back my previous praise of the lad.

No, it's a nice attempt at doner, but something is missing and I've not worked out what.
Probably the stuff that makes it non-diet friendly like fat and rusk

Speaking of shite foodstuffs...

These knockoffs of KFC one can buy from various supermarkets...

This is about the tenth 'recall' this year, across numerous outlets, problems at t'Plant I reckon'...

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/19620674.tesco-waitrose-sainsburys-among-uk-supermarkets-issue-health-warning/

HazMat Ali's was terrible and prevented a 100% non-S/T home attendance one season when I was poisoned by a delivered kebab from there on the Friday...

The meat seemed OK, but the salad smelled like it had been retrieved from a Wheelie-bin. I was determined to go come Saturday, so after gingerly sipping a couple of cans of Stella, I set out, got about 300 yards before I realised I'd probably be shitting on Coe Street, let alone Trinity Street (station) so reluctantly turned back home, doing the clenched sphincter 'penguin with nail through foot' shuffle-walk all the way.

I should've known better, after an Afternoon piss-up me and a (greedy) mate went in, he tucked into his there and then - yoghurt and mint sauce all down the front of his new Ralph Lauren shirt and jeans.

He asked one of the Ali's for a damp cloth, and he simply passed the one he was giving the prep counters a cursory wipe with over.

My mate cleaned up with it, including his pissy crotch, and handed it back - the bloke took it and restarted 'cleaning' with it without missing a beat...

Riveting, eh?

Probably the spice from looking at the recipe

Get down to a turkish / eastern supermarket and get something like this

MISTER MARINADE Fakeaway Night in Doner Kebab Seasoning Spice Mix (100g)

I doubt you could put as much salt in you would need to get the authentic taste.

I had seconds on a masala doner the other day

I could eat it, but so much salt

Not had a good one for ages, no good place in Horwich, the take-away game is shocking in H-Town tbh.

Best ive had in Bolton, Istanbul Shawarma on Derby street, best by a mile.

Istanbul is great - but you need to be on your toes if you fancy the lamb .

Usually all gone by 4oclock.

The salad is awesome.
