  • And as for this tiresome bollocks about pathways in our last two tournaments, do people not realise theres a reason we got those pathways? We avoided groups of death becasue we won every single game i

  • Fuck me we lose one game without a full strength team against a team of shit houses who shithoused themselves half way through the last tournament and the knives are out. It was just one of them

  • Biggest cheers tonight were for the paper planes hitting the pitch. I’ve also learned that being close to Wembley as the crow flies means fuck all when it comes to the tube!   Anyway, 9th/10

Littleraly had 2 good games under Venables. Holland and Scotland.

Switzerland was a shit. So was the Spain game and he should've changed his attack v the Germans.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with that as I can't remember one game under Venables before or after Euro 96.  But at that tournament, I'd swap Scotland for Germany in your summary.  I went to the Scotland game and we didn't play well, Scots deserved to equalise at least, around the time Seaman saved the pen at 1-0.  Gazza's goal was outstanding of course, but we got away with it.

I thought we were superb v Germany, I was absolutely gutted we didn't deservedly win, had tickets for the final.

That's because there weren't any, not competitive ones, just friendlies from 94 up to the Euros

23 games won 11, drew 11, lost 1

Robson managed 97

Southgate 102

Seeing those 3 names together - they all managed Middlesbrough, and two of them played for them.

Also Steve McClaren.  4 England managers in last 30 years.  Not to mention two recent one's that played for England - Woodgate and Carrick.

And two other fairly recent international managers - Jack Charlton and Gordon Strachan.

Remarkable.

Hard to judge him then, as he literally didn't play a competitive game away from home or even neutral, all 5 at Wembley.  Beat Scotland and Holland, drew the other 3.  Basically par for the course, not good or bad.

Great footballing personality and career though, from a kid at Chelsea to his many managerial jobs.

Well for me he did better than Graham Taylor and imo unlucky not to get to a final and possibly win a tournament

He did alright

But he didn't do better than Southgate who put the games and effort in to "achieve" more

Southgate the only England manager to win two semis and one on foreign soil

Look at us though, debating whose the best in terms of how far they got us whilst the rest of the half decent teams in Europe actually win stuff

What a shit show that was til it got going

And Euro 96, pretty shit on the whole

The only thing I rave about these days is the stupidity of some on here.

Was he fuck.

Two proper football men, admired and respected versus a political animal reviled and rejected.

Stick Southgate in the same pigeon hole as Lineker. Opinionated cunt using his position within sport for political influence.

I've not forgotten 'those who don't agree with me will be on the losing side'. The fucking arrogance.

I never liked Lennie Littleraly - two good games or not.

Neither got as far in tournaments with England than Southgate and that speaks for itself.

England managers weren't asked to comment on political shite and put under anywhere near as much scrutiny about non football stuff.

Today it's like they are head and face of the FA.

Southgate was often backed into a corner and said what he thought was the right thing to say.

He could Start opposing taking the knee and gay rights could he?

It's not his job to comment on those things.

It's his job to lecture at Harvard. Long may it continue until The Don guts that nest of leftie vipers.

You're right, but it would be good to see someone in that position nip such questions in the bud immediately the first question is asked.

Something along the lines of "I'm here to manage an international football team, and will make no comments on such matters, so don't ask".

Hodgson spoke really well, and dealt with awkward questions, but he, and no others, should have to be subjected to such crap.

Suppose Bellingham, saka, palmer changes the look of the squad when fit.   Must be a couple more missing ?

As much as maguire gets grief,  he always puts a decent shift in for England.

Remember the days when England didn’t pick from little englander clubs

The announcement of England squads before qualifiers is always something that barely raises much interest for me.

Always a big list, and it's the team on the day that is the interesting bit.

Rashford 🤣

As I thought Tuchel another yes man

Last 16 tops if we qualify

You're just bitter because TTA hasn't been selected.

Golden generation?
