John Lewis advert is out tonight and I've just watched this one. Think I have a bit of dust in my eye

Favourite has to be this one though

We buy the majority of our electrical goods from there because of the warranty/guarantee  they offer.

  • Christmas adverts are just way too commercialised these days.

  • My 8 year old son lost his shit at the Very advert. Mid October 'excuse of the year'  "What are they talking about it's not even been Halloween!"  👍Top lad

They've pulled the one with the kid in his mum's clothes trashing the house haven't they?

 This one gets me

Saw the new John Lewis advert this morning, their will be a few with dust in their eyes tonight.

Fucking hell! I’ve decided, I’m a soft fucker!

All they say to me is "We are playing with your deepest emotions so you'll buy more shit from us. You lost a loved one? BUY MORE SHIT FROM US. Your kid is upset about their absent father? BUY MORE SHIT FROM US". If ever there was a time the phrase "virtue-signalling" was true, Christmas adverts are it.

Strangely, John Lewis ads have never grabbed me enough to buy from them.

Emotionally grabbed? Yes. Commercially grabbed? Never.

Not strange at all. For every person like you and me, there'll be 10 more buying a stuffed fucking carrot or snowman, or whatever this years "character" is because their kids have seen the advert.

Really?

Ive never bought anything from John Lewis. It’s all branded stuff sold at full RRP. Nice to walk around but surely everyone just goes on Amazon afterwards and pays 30% less?

They don't spend millions on a Christmas advert every year for nothing.

I assumed posh folk shopped there, and they make such massive margins that they can manage without the likes of me buying a full price copy of Tatler and a Denby serving platter.

On the Christmas theme

Its the 4th November and I’ve already had 8 mince pies.

The only reason I even enter John Lewis’ is because I usually drive past J10 of M60 and come off at J9 instead. Wife occasionally buys something in their sale.

Cracking service and they always price match.

I think price matching has finished?

Bought a Delonghi coffee machine in Edinburgh and had a dining table delivered last night both from John Lewis. My wife assures me they were both a bargain. She will spend a week looking for the best price for a bag of muesli, so I’ve no issue with the price and great service.

Yes because it was for home insurance and if you rang your insurers claims department and said "my sons intentionally trashed the house and I just sat there and let him" they'd laugh at you

Ooh yer cynical devil.  I filled up watching all three of those ads.  Lovely stuff.  I don't think I've ever bought anything in John Lewis though.
