With each other, both would have been nothing and music would have been poorer for it. Like him or loathe him, Morrissey is a musical genius and has been massively successful without Marr, by employing guitarists not quite as good, but good enough. Marr, sadly, couldn't carry a tune in a bucket vocally and has never found a permanent lead singer to play alongside. Politically/socially, Moz is an absolute train-wreck, of course. He's a decent, nay, very good lyricist - but he can't sing, he could just about sing in key in his twenties and thirties, now he sounds like a duck getting bummed in that Belgrade animal brothel. embankment Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Genesis - Foxtrot was the 1st album I bought. Absolutely loved it , started me on a musical journey that I am still on. Motorhead- The band that was aceppted by Rockers and Punks . Lemmy lived a rocknroll life style 24hrs day. Hawkwind another band that makes music that you have to concentrate on . More update . Not changed me, but keeping Rock alive . King Creature and Urne . Both brought awesome albums this year. Quote
stevieb Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Was brought up with my dad playing guitar for family parties... All 3 kids... No interest in guitar so it was never pushed. Went to uni balls deep into Wigan pier and the like 'put a donk on it'. Met a load of mates that music was massive for them... For the art of the music not for the buzz of the drug fuelled nights. I had a very good few years of having a belting understanding of both sides of the argument. Beatles - my dad loved em and played loads of their songs on the guitar Drifters - as above... Come on over to my place a particular favourite. Neil Young - one of my house mates absolutely loved his back catalogue and it proper infiltrated us all who are still mates now 15 years on. Loads of other shit. Anyway at uni I started playing guitar and I had an annoying feeling about why didn't my dad try and push it even a bit. A balance between being a pushy parent... Or CBA! 🤣 Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Inflammable material, the debut album by Stiff Little Fingers blew my mind as a young impressionable 18 yr old back in the day, it still blows my mind now when i’m in the mood. The Clash self titled debut album was such a breath of fresh air after being spoon fed Abba and Boney M and Brotherhood of fucking man for years, it felt like we had our own thing at last. The Sex Pistols, The Jam, Buzzcocks. I loved being a youth me. Edited January 1, 2022 by Burndens Bogs Quote

Rather listen to Defeffal's dog Dylan howling and Dylann Rooof twanging a guitar from death row in a zoom collaboration. He really is the most overrated musician of all time. Can't sing none can't play much either. In the words of the equally shite Chumbawamba he's going to choke on his harmonica. Utter shite rip-off magpie. Edit: He would be life-changing tbf - because I'd stick my head in the oven after ten minutes of his interminably boring nasal whining. Edited January 1, 2022 by Youri McAnespie Quote
FrancisFogarty Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Andrea Bocelli in Milan Cathedral Easter 2020. Music for Hope. Taken in it's context of the middle of a pandemic, empty streets, empty cities it's an excellent watch, and tunes you'll know. Not ones to tap your tootsies to mind, or sing along with. Quote
