Rovers losses still £7m in the latest accounts despite selling the training ground to Venkys for around £13m.

They are going to have to break their team up without promotion this season just to keep FFP under control. Shame.

Isn’t this how Derby cheated the FFP rules?

Depends if the valuation is massively inflated doesn't it?

Looking at the figures from championship it’s no wonder FV reportedly looking at bringing in new investors, it’ll be interesting to see the colour of the Wigan owners money when they get promoted.  Without further serious money I think promotion to championship is somewhat a poison chalice.

Yeah, i just dont see why any serious business person would want to get involved with a championship club.  Spend double your incomings, watch the debt increase year on year and unless you get promoted, get shit off everyone for not spending enough.

Think Derby did it with the stadium rather than training ground, but it is a bit of a get out of jail free card really, isn't it? Only gives you a year's grace once you've played it though unless you manage to get promoted in the meantime.

The carrot of promotion is so huge though that there will be plenty daft enough to try it and keep saying "look at Leicester, look at Leicester" under their breath. And that's without wondering quite how many of them are actually doing it with their own money. Even on our own patch, I do sometimes wonder what Lennon (pre meltdown) could have done with a bit of investment on the back of when we finish seventh.

If they've sold it to themselves, & unless that valuation is absolutely eater-tight then yes, it is what both Derby & Sheff Wed. did & is extremely dubious. If it's then included as income when reporting their accounts it doesn't meet FFP rules. The only way to avoid that review is to be in the Premiership by the time the authorities get around to looking.

And even then they’ll just ignore their calls like QPR did.

I read it as you meant it.

So did I. Don't know how they read it any differently.
