The problem with this trial is all they have to do is prove that an article she wrote and had published in 2019 doesn't count as defamation. 

I'd say as absolutely useless as her council appear to be, they will manage to cross that threshold.

In reality though Depp is using this more to publicly absolve himself, and I'd say for that reason alone it's already been successful.

i'm not so sure about that, from what I've seen there's clearly abuse going on, but they are as bad as each other

I guess it'd be enough for the defamation claim to be upheld, but it will be interesting to see if he gets any decent roles again (he claims that this article derailed his career)
