The Queen

Seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

She is 96.

  • RIP. Very sad.  Whether you're Royalist, anti-Royalist or somewhere in between.  For the vast majority of us, she's been our Queen for all our lives.  Feels strange that it's no longer the case.

  • She did this. And she probably didn’t have to because she was the Queen. But she did. What a woman.

Liz Truss as PM and Charles at the Monarch. Wonder what odds you'd have got at the beginning of the year?

Also, can someone check on Bolty?

The difference between how she looked even as recently as July in these BBC news pictures and while meeting Truss the other day are quite stark.

Regardless of people's views she's someone's mum and grandma, the rest of the royal family heading up there right now doesn't bode well at all.

I've always wondered about the mechanisms in place for this happening, like the TV companies will have their entire schedule for about a week ready to go won't they

The most elaborate plans are for what happens if she passes away at Balmoral, where she spends three months of the year. This will trigger an initial wave of Scottish ritual. First, the Queen’s body will lie at rest in her smallest palace, at Holyroodhouse, in Edinburgh, where she is traditionally guarded by the Royal Company of Archers, who wear eagle feathers in their bonnets. Then the coffin will be carried up the Royal Mile to St Giles’s cathedral, for a service of reception, before being put on board the Royal Train at Waverley station for a sad progress down the east coast mainline. Crowds are expected at level crossings and on station platforms the length of the country – from Musselburgh and Thirsk in the north, to Peterborough and Hatfield in the south – to throw flowers on the passing train. (Another locomotive will follow behind, to clear debris from the tracks.) “It’s actually very complicated,” one transport official told me.

Yeah I've always thought the SNP would hate that to happen. It'll push back their cause for an age.

Not sounding good.

Just hope she isn't suffering.

What a life she has had. Farewell cheerless marshes🇬🇧

Sad stuff. Hope she’s pain free.

Truss, this and what next? Normally in 3’s isn’t it.

I think so to.  Awaiting for the family to arrive before official announcement.

Yeah, she's gone. This is the period period the offical annoucement.

I'd have thought she passed when the inital statement was made.

Oh dear. RIP Queen Elizabeth.

She died last night according to 'insiders' at Balmoral.
