One thing that bothers me is that when people hold up placards saying Refugees Welcome. What do they mean by that? Do they mean anyone who arrives in the UK is welcome or do they mean anyone who arrives legally under a managed immigration system is welcome.

Who knows, but it's a better look than attempting to set them on fire while they're trapped in a hotel

I don't blame a single migrant that wants to come here. Good on em. They just want a better life.

It's our system that's fucked.

our country is fucked

(relative to how it should be as one of the richest countries on earth)

id guess they mean refugees

No such thing as an economic migrant then.

My understanding is that other European countries not only process asylum claims quicker but also reject a higher percentage than the UK, particularly Germany. Some of the Boat people have already been rejected in other countries.

i wonder if you are part of a large trading bloc, you could have a rule whereby if youve been rejected by one member, you could be rejected by all?

Thought we were taking back control?

we can probably look to get more control, but control won't look like a lot of people want it to

A lot of people getting sent down seem to have just been unlucky to have been passing by when drunk. They are making it 100% clear that despite attacking mosques and homes of immigrants they are not racist. Sure when the Muslim brotherhood see that they will welcome them into their new surroundings.

Seriously people have fucked their lives for this.

I think if you have been rejected as an asylum seeker the likelihood is you are not an asylum seeker you are an economic migrant and should not be able to block the system in another country.

The economic migrants will try to seek asylum at the country which has the laxest asylum system, for the last few years this has been the Republic of Ireland.

Many of them are drunk or on drugs, or both. And a high percentage have got previous convictions.

How many have been done for attacking mosques and  homes?

The two lads who were on their home from bingo joined a group who were targeting homes, the Southport riot was attacking a mosque.

However as I do not to get into 4567 messages backwards and forwards I agree that is not what they have been charged with. I am sure the Muslim brotherhood will take your point into consideration.

If only we were part of some form of union where we could leverage a better deal.

If only...

Good to acknowledge that our prisons are a breeding ground for racial hatred 👍

Yeah and the people who pushed them to this. The instigators both short and long term, direct and indirect, will in the main get away with it.

Some of those being jailed are in their teens and early 20s,  don’t have a clue about politics  and weren’t old enough to vote Brexit yet I’m sure these are some of the people and reasons you want to blame.

Then we have a Labour councillor saying “cut their throats” to a laughing mob of “peaceful protestors”

How about acknowledging some people need to take blame for their own actions.

In 2016 we were the on of the lowest asylum grant rates around. In 2004 we rejected something like 9 in 10. Last 5 years we’ve been the highest grant rate in Western Europe.

This is the thing that is irritating. All this, leave the EU secure our borders, find deterrents etc that the Tories talked was the complete opposite of what they did. They whipped up the hate, the racism, dog whistled the racists whilst doing the complete opposite in reality. It’s why I find cleverly to be utterly appalling. He knew Rwanda was a disgraceful idea - kept peddling it as some magical deterrent whilst he knew they were granting asylum like handing out sweets. A lot of responsibility for what happened in the last few weeks is on their hands. For deliberately playing on hatred for votes.

They need to take blame for their own actions - absolutely.  But the hatred and language used hasn’t come from nowhere. It’s time politicians were responsible and behaved like serious people. We can discuss immigration without inciting hatred and demonising groups of people. That’s not just right wing politicians. Across the spectrum I find the way that stuff is discussed or talked about is not satisfactory.

But they are a symptom of the media. And those collages of daily mail and express front pages shouldn’t be ignored. We can discuss stuff without that.
