And for a bit of balance, I've just been over to Cambridge for the afternoon, driving through one of the little villages to get there, every lamppost (maybe 20 or so) had a flag on it, alternating between the England flag and the Union Jack. All brand new flags, all the same size, all hung at the same height. Still a bit flagshaggy, but it looked quite nice, somebody has definitely put the effort in, and made sure it didn't look too scrotey. I guess though, unless they change the flags every few weeks, it'll soon start to look really shit, really quickly. 

It can be done in a dignified and understated way, a bit like they do for village fetes/summer fairs and the like

There's one near me that alternates a Union flag, an England flag, and a Lancashire flag on a proper flagpole with flags that don't look like they've been bought from Temu

Then there's dickheads painting a lopsided red cross on walls, or flying one of tthoseshit England flags with the word England written on the horizontal red line
