That said, perhaps he is reading of the room, but balances that with his voter base and their beliefs. In other words, doing what he can to keep himself in office.

Again, it highlights the problems with stupid levels of migration, poor integration, and culture clashes.

All legitimate questions that could be raised against the current government in general. But they don't directly have anything to do with the issue we were discussing in particular (illegal immigration).

...so you don't think all of these other failings influence the way people think about what we are 'discussing in particular'?

We all know that Labour have been pushed into seeming like they are doing something about illegal immigration. We all know that they would rather not touch it but the pressure from the likes of Mr. Farage is forcing their hand.

Materially though, what have they done? 'Smashed the gangs'  That was always a joke from the moment those words first passed his lips. Arranged a 'one on one' swap for definite unentitled ones for some who could be entitled.

Hardly likely to placate the seething masses is it?

No, I agree they've not done enough to tackle illegal immigration and it's led to more public anger. 

Although I would say it's led to much more public anger than when the Tories were in power. 

That was my point really. They've not really dramatically changed much re immigration since the last lot (with the exception of scrapping a Rwanda scheme that hadn't started - although I'm sure there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes). They've certainly not 'smashed the gangs' looking at the number of people crossing the channel. 

And I do think Jeremy Corbyn could be classed as a man of conviction. In the same way that Nigel Farage or Donald Trump could be classed as men of conviction (albeit for polar opposite reasons). 

The abuse has been ridiculous enough since Starmer got in. Imagine the vitriol if Jezza had made it to number 10! 😁

I think you can look at both protests in the past month & say the policing has been balanced in its treatment of violence from both sides. Struggling to see any evidence of two tier policing

Anyone who attacks police officers are aggressive idiots. We’ve seen a minority of people at the Palestine demos & TR demo being violent. No side is better or worse than the other & a half cut video from Twitter isn’t proof of that.
