Part of my post above about getting him a football started off by saying ‘stop buying his affection’. I got rid because I know fuck all about you and your family and your relationship with your son. That said, by your own admission, you probably need to reign in your spending and find some other way of bonding with him.

I think what @Cheeseis forgetting here is what you actually get your kids for Christmas doesn't really matter.

What is important is to make it look like they've got shitloads and then post it on Facebook to rub it in the noses of those that are struggling to make ends meet.

My lad isn’t coming north until Boxing Day so it’s going to be a very strange one for us not to have him around on Christmas Day. Particularly as we’ll  have an empty seat on our table for our Christmas Day curry just in case he was back up here on the day. He’s 15 now and this will be the first time in his life that I’ve not had him staying over on Christmas Day evening. Shopping was a piece of piss mind, he just send a load of links to stuff on Amazon.  

Finishing work at dinnertime on Thursday and back in for one day only on the 28th then off again until the 3rd. Never had so much time off at this time of year since I was 17. Gig in Manchester on Thursday (Lottery Winners), annual Christmas Eve beers and pizza with friends and staying over at Lincoln away so can’t grumble.
