  1. Without looking there can’t be many, if any bigger League one play-off games in terms of the stature, history and size of the 2 clubs
  2. Considering we had nowt to play for and they were fighting for their lives and considering we could start next seasons first game with 6/7 different players; Bod/Lee/Sheehan/Dempsey/MJ/Fossey/Santos That was a bloody good game and performance, well done young George And well done everybody connected with the club. The best mid-table finish I’ve ever witnessed in my life-time 😂
  3. Wouldn’t we need to knock a few past Fleetwood as well?
  4. Bloody hell, I forgot about him! Yes no way he’s a L1 player.
  5. Thinking along the same lines. Has to be Holden and Cahill doesn’t it? I’m racking my brains for more outfield players I’d have (Aaron Mooy??) but I reckon @Biggish Daveis right. You could argue a case for Madine, but to be honest I’d rather have JDB The other one is Aaron Ramsdale although he was only here as a youngster and didn’t play in the first team.
  6. Don’t know if people are aware of this. A bwfc friend of my eldest, only 17, took his own life last week. https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-aston-robinson Horrifically tragic event. A minutes applause on 17 mins seems to be gathering momentum, which would be a nice touch.
  7. Huddersfield Sunderland Port Vale
  8. I’m with you on this. We’d find it extremely difficult to replace him within our means. Not only is it his goal scoring record, it’s his; ability to dribble, his change of pace, his versatility (he had a great game Saturday in the 10 role) and he is a real game changer, we’ll need that next season. And as Mounts quite rightly points out, in his interviews he comes across as a really intelligent well balanced individual - important traits that are sometimes forgotten. I’d be gutted if he left. As at @tomskisaid, I’ll let FV worry about the finances. I’d be disappointed to see him go whatever money we got for him.

Fair result. Despite nothing really going for him in the first half, fair play to Sadlier for getting his goal, he was better. Morley had a great 2nd half. Despite my backing of Williams, I think Dempsey brings out the best in Morley. Until that last 5/10 mins we absolutely dominated that 2nd half. Hope all who went enjoyed it 🍺🍺

What a save from Traf! Started slowly but imposed ourselves as the half went on. Dapo great half. Sadlier probably his worst half for us.
  11. How all good debates should go, agree to disagree on parts, but find some common ground. I agree we need another CDM, whether that be an upgrade/replacement for MJ or competition, as long as it’s for the benefit and progression of BWFC, I’m all for it 👍
  12. While I’m not against having in depth competition and potentially improving on MJ, I’m going to offer an alternative view on him only being a solid league 1 player, which suggests he’s not top end, capable of performing in a promotion team and/or performing in the championship. Evatts words offer one explanation of why we shouldn’t just look at previous clubs: Players “shouldn’t be judged on their records at other clubs.” “I think some players that we sign, it’s difficult because they might have been playing for football clubs that play a completely different way to how we play and then you’re just looking for glimpses of them doing the things that we want them to do. “But we have position specifics of what we require from each individual” The second consideration is that of the number of players in the past who have performed much better for BWFC than their previous clubs, they just get what Bolton is, appreciate the manager, the fans and buy in to the whole Bolton Wanderers brand; Davies, Mcginlay, Brannigan, Bergson. (there’s probably more from the past than I can think of at the moment!) Then you come to present day and look at what JDB is offering - I’m sorry but if any one tells me he isn’t top end L1/comfortable Ch player the way he’s playing for us at the minute then they are watching a different player - maybe the player Millwall fans saw. I think it’s complicated - you can’t just assume a previous players achievements, accomplishments and performances at other clubs, limit his potential at BWFC. Same with MJ. I accept he dropped off December/January - but the way he’s finished the season has been fantastic, probably our best and most consistent performer (with Morley pretty close alongside) - don’t write him off for being a major player in a promotion push and performing in the championship.
  13. Derby away, Baseball ground, in the cup game (93?), unless nostalgia clouds the memory, I reckon it went on for nearly 90 mins. As the game went 3-1 out of our reach, it just got louder!
  14. Unfortunately not for this one. If this had something riding on it or we weren’t playing them next season this would have gone to top of the priority list. But a combination of kids football, cricket season starting and saving money means it waits for next year this fixture. Enjoy all who are going, I will be very envious as I wake up Saturday morning, then tune in later in the afternoon. Have a few for me 🍺 🍺🍺
  15. It’s all my fault 😂 TBF I did say at the outset I was looking for the “Brand Evatt” thread which the article I posted would have fitted quite nicely in. But when I did a search it wasn’t there, but this one popped up. I thought it was too funny to keep to myself 😉
  16. I was looking for the “Brand Evatt” thread to post this, but it’s disappeared. This one makes better reading mind! Good job Sharon had a bit more faith and patience than some on here! 😂 Good article, which shows the philosophy and method behind recruitment.
  17. He’s having a very good end to the season. In this form he’ll still have a big part to play next season.
  18. Wasn’t sure if this had been shared. First thing Evatt does after every goal there is shake the hands of all the support staff I wonder if Evatt does what he does on all those 3 goals for every goal we score? Team ethic certainly plays a big part in “Brand Evatt”
  19. Yeh about sums it up. He did have a couple of good seasons in a poor, declining era for us. But unfortunately my abiding, horrific memory, will be THAT miss https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/9837632.us-star-ream-still-haunted-by-his-30million-miss/ So it’s a no from me
  20. Woah woah woah!!! I made that guess in the hotel approx 2.15 ish, I’ll have you inow 😂😂😂
  21. Bod and Baka certainly made a difference today. But on Friday bringing Charles and Dapo on for them both made a difference. Great to have options. As I think @Casino said earlier this week. As a partnership Bod/Baka looks more potent, even though if I had to pick our best striker I’d say Charles (although even as I’m typing Bod has been immense these last few weeks)
