  1. Arm around the shoulder is fine if the player actually then plays well. If he continues to play apathetically then a kick up the backside is needed and if that doesn't happen ship him out. It's not just Megson either, before people start having a go at him. Remember after the ANC the other year? BSA couldn't get him to play for us for the remainder of the season and he eant off on the sick. Diouffy, while a great character, hasn't really made the impact for us he should have done. I don't think he's played that well since we turned his loan into a permanent move.
  2. Pre-season is always like this. Tends to be that when we do well, we're crap in the league and vice versa. We got to a final last year, you know....
  3. Steinsson is a different kettle of fish to probably any other footballer we've had at the club for a long time. Considering the route he took to become a professional footballer, the guy knows just how fortunate he is. I'm guessing that he'll be the one who turns up to every event. He's already the one who seems to linger the longest with the fans at the end of a game. Top bloke

And it must be so nice having people like you around.
  5. That was exactly what I was trying to get at. We've had bad runs before but just because it's LSL rather than Big Sam, it doesn't mean that it all needs to be doom and gloom. But the point about fans moaning about the style of play still holds. A huge number did.
  6. Don't use bad language. What if there are kids on the forum? Anyway, the point remains. What did Allardyce do to stop the rot since Christmas? Jump?
  7. Quite right - 'tis the possessive form. However, since I'm belting out replies on about 4 forums at the moment trying to put my point across, my ability to check the grammar and/or punctuation of what I've just written is a little limited.
  8. Because we're not cashing in on ?20M. If Eddie wanted to take his investment out of the club, he wouldn't try to run it down. He would try to make sure it was as gleaming and as profitable as possible with good LONG TERM prospects. No one will want to buy us if we drop into the Championship because we are not a big club. We make very little on gate receipts and very little on merchandising compared to the big boys or even West Ham or Everton. To sell us, Eddie would need to make sure we're in the Premiership and be looking to the future.
  9. Come off it. You couldn't move on a Wanderers forum for the last year without a good percentage of the fans saying that the football was boring and that they weren't sure if they were going to renew their season tickets. I'm of the opposite view - results are all I care about. But so many people were moanign about boring games it was unbelievable.
  10. He doesn't do that.
  11. If you'd been to the Isle of Man you'd realise that the whole of the south of the island is near Ronaldsway Airport! But he's not short of a bob or two is Eddie.
  12. Mmmm. A manager who had gone stale and had just led us through one of the worst runs in the club's Premiership history, one who was devoid of ideas of how to change a game tactically and one who's style was roundly criticised by most fans of the club? That one?
  13. Didn't Ben haim play RB in that game because Nicky Hunt went off after 21 minutes. Up to that point we were in total control.
  14. Oh bollocks. Was half way through posting, got distracted came back and ended the reply with totally the opposite meanign of what I meant to say. 3/4 of his contract to go!!!
  15. ?10M is tabloid journalism. Anelka is only jusy over 3/4 of the way through a 4 year deal. The club have said if a CL club comes in for him, they won't stand in his way. The papers have been determined to prise Anelka away from us all summer so thay can have ANOTHER go at us. It hasn't worked yet....

I don't think the board are holding out for anybody. That's just daft. They apointed Sammy lee and I know that they have a lot of faith in the guy. As for LSL selling off all Big Sam's signings, where's that coming from? Which Big Sam signings? There's speculation about Anelka and Diouf but there is ALWAYS speculation about Anelka and Diouf. They attract attention. People have really got to clam down and to stop seeing things that aren't there.
  17. I think that it's fair to say that Big Sam took us as far as HE could take us. I'd agree with that. However, I'm of the opinion that a different manager could take us further. LSL has a good chance, once he's overcome the initial period, of really developing our style of play. I honestly think that he can take us further, given the solid foundation that Big Sam developed. I'm not sure LSL could have got us to where we are but Big Sam could. But I feel that LSL can take us further than Big Sam could have done.
  18. I think they'll go tighter. Maybe with a 4-3-3.
  19. What happens if they don't want to sign but want to move onto bigger clubs?
  20. Fairly rubbish, I think, unless we get ?8M for him.
  21. Just watch your language and be polite. You're wrong anyway!
  22. Depends what the truth is. Even if we did have chance to put Ben Haim on a more lucrative contract, Cheslea would still have been sniffing around him. Maybe we would have got soem money for him. Maybe not. Don't actually remember TBH being brilliant in the first 6 months of his contract. He had potential but that was all. None of us really know the true situation at the club so I can't see how we can say the club got it wrong.
  23. Perhaps Faye doesn't want to sign for us. Perhaps he's got a better offer. It's not as easy as 'Let's sign them up.' Ben Haim didn't want to stay - we could have offered him ?70k per week and he'd have gone. Jussi's contract negotiations isn't a balls up. What happens if he wants ?100k per week? Then, Anelka, Diouf etc will want the same and all of a sudden, we've no money left. Some people think that all of a sudden we're ManUtd or Chelsea - or one of the future Leeds like West Ham or Pompey. We haven't got the money to pay players huge wages.
  24. Let's wait and see then....pehaps we'll ask for ?5M at the last minute.
