I don't think I've missed the point at all. I Love the fact that Nat won the Cup for us that year despite everyone in the country wanting United to win. Preparing to get lots of stick about this but here goes. Despite the obvious embarrassment of Sunday, I actually found the defeat easier to take because it was so comprehensive and each player was as bad as the next. Cahill said they hadn't played that bad all season. I'd wager they hadn't played that bad since they were under 14's. But much the same as when England got wangered 4-1 by the Germans (only the Lampard 'goal' vexed me afterwards and what might have been), the 5-0 left me feeling almost anaesthetised in so much as it was over so quickly and I barely felt a thing - numb almost. 1-1 going into the 90th minute and losing to a dodgy pen would devastate me for weeks afterwards. That's my take on it. Perhaps it's my age (48). I think it's a little easier to take when you mature (not looking to patronise anyone). I wanted my town, my club, my team to be represented in the FACF for the first time in my lifetime. On Saturday night I was like a kid in a candy store thinking about what it might be like to batter Stoke the next day - or even scab that last minute winner. For reasons only the players can know, they fucked it up royally. As fans you don't get over it as quickly as they do. But on this occasion I have. And I think a lot of it is down to what they earn and the fact that there is so much worse going on out there in the world. we travelled in on the tube from Rayners Lane and there was a Wembley Stadium medic we got talking to who was on duty for both semis. He was telling us that it was quarter to 11 before he left after the Manc semi and that United fans had waited en masse for the City lot to come out after the game, before wading in indiscriminently to men, women even kids! Said the medical room was busy and they had ruined the whole day. Also said the policing generally would prevent such an event but that the DMBs were determined and the police were essentially powerless. Media coverage: Nada. I always thought there was potential for it to go off big time just outside the entrances 'M' yesterday. One more thing: the medic also said that Brent Council wanted our game delayed til Easter Monday but tickets had already gone on sale. Can't this be used in the European Court of Appeal as grounds for a replay (not that I'd bother going again)

I've seen all three games Tope has played whilst on loan at Shrewsbury as I cover them for the media in Shropshire. He started at Chesterfield and by the hour mark, Town were 0-4 behind, but recovered to lose by the single goal. At home to Barnet, he ought to have scored in the last minute to make it 3-1 when he was sent clear from the halfway line. His pace got him away and he looked to have sold the keeper a beaut, but the lad recovered to keep the ball out, and at Crewe he rattled the post in a 2-1 win. On the whole, been really impressed with him. Pace to burn, decent in the air and fantastic touch. With SKD, Elmander, Klasnic, Blake, Moreno, Riga and the lad from Oldham (? sorry) he's plainly not going to break into the 1sts & Coyle has allowed Shrews to use him at Saints tomorrow in the FAC.
