I was watching the 3 leaders from the PL, EFL & FA being interviewed by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Parliament.tv, but fell asleep before Clarke's interrogation.
  3. Worth pointing out that without the pandemic Trump would very likely have won.
  4. Indeed. It was a judge who forced the prioritisation of mail ballots in sorting procedures, demolishing Trump's little wheeze.
  5. Trump anticipated the close call in the election. He knew most postal votes would be for Biden and actively requested his own support to vote in person. In the summer he appointed a placeman as head of the US Mail Service, with a view to slowing delivery times so that many postal votes would not arrive in time for the count. His first act was to ban overtime. Then he arranged for the withdrawal of high-speed sorting machines and many postboxes. Of course the official result of the ballot has not yet been announced. Over the next few weeks each state will confirm and appoint the relevant slate of candidates to the Electoral College. Trump's strategy appears to be to frustrate enough states to fail to confirm in time for the EC meeting on 14th December, in which case Congress will decide the outcome. It seems very likely that he will not carry his party with him in this unDemocratic manoeuvre.
  6. Electoral College meets on 14th December. Of course if it's 270v270.....
  7. When Florida comes in (3a.m.?). Trump has very little chance if he fails to win there.
  8. There is scope for late withdrawals due to Covid, thereby saving costly travel. Banbury have missed out most. They will be cross.
  9. Clubs below National Leagues North and South are allowed home spectators only. So South Shields v Sunderland would be interesting (as would FCUM v Bolton). Clubs allowed spectators: Skem, Banbury, South Shields, FCUM, Marine, Cray Valley Paper Mills, Canvey Island, Hayes & Yeading, Maldon & Tiptree and Bishops Stortford.
  10. He won't concede, so if he 'loses' there will be riots too.
  11. King's Lynn now have a bye too, as Notts County have withdrawn due to covid test failures in the squad.
  12. To be fair the rescue package is only £20M in grants, with the other £30M in loans - interest-free but repayable. That won't go far among 48 clubs and EFL want a package acceptable to each division, including Championship.
  13. A 20 year-old with kids at school?
  14. Any National League North/South club contracting players to play in Saturday's FA Cup QR2 is obliged to pay them till the end of the season. Expect some withdrawals or weakened teams as the prospect of gate receipts any time soon has gone.
  15. One man designed stands for over 25% of football league grounds (plus the same proportion of Scottish league grounds, major Irish grounds and Twickenham. He was Archibald K Leitch (not to be confused with Cary Grant, who was Archibald A Leach).
  16. Last time around Wigan's last match was 24th October. This time hey ae due to host Plymouth on that date.
  17. Memory failing - they actually lasted 12 league games.
  18. Results expunged, just like their previous incarnation who went after 8 games.
  19. Spurs were losing with 15 minutes left, then Loco had 2 sent off and Spurs equalised wth a Kane penalty before clinching an heroic victory.
  20. Evertonian Victor Anichobe was picked up by police in Knutsford for looking in a jewellers' window for several minutes as they thought he was casing the joint. It didn't occur to them that he earned significant money and was well capable of shopping there.
  21. They will do a Wigan Borough.
  22. (Boris's middle name is Boris). To family he is Al(exander).
  23. Maine Road are playing at Prestwich Heys, when (I think) their own ground (Brantingham Road) was twice used as a semi-final venue in the 1880s.
