isn't the point in journalism to give an insight or bring forth a detail you may have overlooked? With the tabloids small columns there is no way any journalist can expand an idea or story, however the broadsheets give more editorial space to there writers and so give the reader greater detail. The internet is good but I still like to get paper and read good journalists like Gabrielle Marcotti who are excellent writers.
