2025 Holidays

So where’s everyone going?

St. Ives, Cornwall booked for early June.

Contemplating some winter/Easter sun.

We’ve sadly had to let our caravan go in Snowdonia, so won’t be having our usual few weeks there.

Yes he’s fine cheers, he was only out of the pool for a couple of days. CT scan confirmed he has no brain

  • Probably the right place to share a tale from our French trip that morphs into a recommendation. Armistice Day is a bank holiday in France and the commemorations are always on the 11th, not the S

  • I hope you manage to get back up here before the summer is out and I hope the wife makes a full and speedy recovery.

Porec is great

Small and loads of decent restaurants and bars

Did get pissed on home made Grappa there though

Saw the best lightning show ever as well

It was around 15 years ago though

Mrs Biggish and myself love Rovinj. We'll certainly go back at some stage

Yeah Porec was similar to Rovinj when I went back in the 80s so I guess that it’s headed the same development route

The storms in Croatia are the best I’ve ever seen

Madeira in August booked on @Traf tours. First time im excited to be missing some BWFC games

Been twice, short breaks both times. Funchal is decent. Apart from lots of old folks, it’s actually an adventure-activity type place. Coasteering, canyoning, whale watching, hiking, etc. The cable car to the botanical gardens and the sledge back down are a must in Funchal.

Did Porec in 1984 (I think). Great times when it was still Yugoslavia.

Would highly recommend the Istrian peninsula, be it Rovinj, Porec or somewhere in between or near

2 hour flight to Pula which is a small and highly efficient airport. 3 hours after take off, courtesy of a private transfer organised by Traf tours, I was sat in the hotel bar supping a cold beer

Food and drink is ace and very reasonably priced. The local red wine is utterly superb. I'd go there over the Costas any day of the week

Just back from two weeks in Cyprus, my first visit there since doing Ayia Napa in the early 90's.

Absolutely loved it over there even if it was hotter than the devil's bollocks.

Paris - any decent sports bars for (a) football, (b) T20 cricket WC semi?

Stayed in Pula for a couple of nights during an England trip, went in a bar owned by the son of a world boxing champion, great bloke showed us some of his dad's belts and trophies

Mate Parlov (16 November 1948 – 29 July 2008) was a Croatian-Yugoslavian boxer and Olympic gold medalist who was European and World Champion as an amateur and as a professional. Parlov was voted the Best Balkan Athlete of the Year for 1974

@gonzo

In Blackpool. A lot busier than I thought it would be but the weather is nice and I think it may be Scottish week too?

Had a couple of hot meat butties @ Abingdon BBQ. Bloody lovely.

£1.80 a pint in The Ardwick 👍🏻

How long has Ma Kelly’s been in the old Manchester Pub on the promenade?

Ignore me, Manchester is still there.

😆

Been to Varosha in Northern Cyprus this afternoon and it’s incredible how much of the ‘ghost town’ has been opened up since our last visit less than 2 years ago.

Previously you could only get on to a tiny bit of the beach and nowhere at all in the abandoned town, but now huge swathes of the beach are open and a walk-through in the town.

Glad we’ve managed to do it again and see so much more in its current state as I can’t imagine it will be long until it starts to be redeveloped. Will certainly cause some ructions in that part of the world when it happens.

Off to Sitges in a couple of weeks for a long weekend courtesy of Traf tours

Never been before but aware of the reputation so any non-bumchuffery ale and food recommendations gratefully received :D

anywhere in the UK to go a few days with the little one that won't cost a vital organ?

3 figures for a few days?

Seems reasonable.

What are you after; camping, B&B, cottage etc?

Great place that. We stayed above a pub a few miles out after Wembley last year. The Model Village and Dragonfly Maze are worth a visit. Bad time of year to be booking something, as I'm sure you already know. Everywhere is extortionate.

3 week Thailand road trip end of August.

Oct/Nov - somewhere, maybe Vegas & SF.

Vietnam/Cambodia for a month in Jan.

Try winchcombe or Broadway, only 20 mins from Bourton. I spent  few years down there, mint place. Lots of St George Cross and Union Jack flags though so not sure if you will like it 🇬🇧

Ah OK.

Dunno what you're after, but we managed to grab a cottage with a late booking.

Some of these online companies are worth calling for late availability or cancellations.

When do schools go back- you might have more luck straight after.
