2025 Holidays

So where’s everyone going?

St. Ives, Cornwall booked for early June.

Contemplating some winter/Easter sun.

We’ve sadly had to let our caravan go in Snowdonia, so won’t be having our usual few weeks there.

Spent a lot of time in Galle with work. Mental place! I loved it. Was last there about 9 years ago. Great food, amazing beaches, take plenty of Mozzie repellents, watch out for the monkeys and when it rains it proper rains. Whereabouts are you going?

The usual tourist tour for 2 weeks; Colombo, Dambulla, Kandy, Tea Train and plantation, Galle, then a week on the beach at Bentota.

Went 20 years go but would definately like to return one day.

We stayed in Beruwalla but the hotel was frankly a bit shit, think it has shut now.

We went to Kandy, Galle, elephant orphanage, various shops and villages, tea plantations a diamond museum type place and a safari.

Great people and country but it took an age to get anywhere back then, think they have motorways now.

I went in 2007 for the cricket. Only did Colombo & Negombo, but really liked it.

The people are the most friendliest I've met, they're lovely....

Would love to go back, but try Galle or Kandy next time.

You'd enjoy it, as long as Smelldew isn't with you....

So it was 😂😂 cheers mate. I’ll have a look at prices doing attractions separate and then go from there.

There’s a basketball match on at MSG when I’m there. They’re playing LA lakers. Cheapest ticket I’ve found so far is £220 and that’s in the heavens. Fuck that

9/11 Memorial & Museum is free every Monday from 5:30pm but closes at 7pm.

Not sure if that's enough time to see everything.

Tickets for that can only be reserved on the day from 7am and are limited. Usually $33 a piece so worth a try.

That's through their own site.

Snivelling little man

Got Croatia booked with Traf tours for June

I’ll shamelessly plug @Traf here. If you have a Mrs like mine who relentlessly views TUI holidays. Traf will get you the same deal (or better) with private transfers rather than sat on a coach with scutters and a bloke on the end of a phone rather than a shit website/app that does fuck all if things aren’t right

Is there any way round or not get shafted on single occupancy, we abandoned last year trip as left it to late when our new born, so looking at his year and Mrs wants to take sister, but once you stick her on as single occupancy its like hundreds per person difference. As nice as it would be to help with a 18 month old am close to saying it doesn't make sense to book on with her.

Any any one been Lanzarote in May? we usually June/July but thinking be better if not silly hot

Finally saved enough for a family holiday this year - looked around but we reckon we'll do Edinburgh. Free accommodation so with a couple of grand we can have a nice week.

when ours were young, they had a 2week school holiday back end of may

we did majorca/menorca for a few years and knew whether might be a bit iffy

got lucky each time with a cpl of thunderstorms at worst

tried playa blanca the next time and loads of cloud and downright chilly for over half days

always looked sunny not so far away, so it may have been a local issue

on playa blanca, nice place but looked about to see loads of development and the little shopping area was already mostly cheap electrical shit

Priced up New York Knicks against LA lakers for the end of the month. Cheapest seat is over $300, fuck that. They seem to play at home every 2-3 days. God knows how their fixtures are sorted

In the baseball they play the same team 4 or 5 times in the run over the same number of days. Not sure if same in basketball. Think they invented squad rotation to make it work.
