2025 Holidays

So where’s everyone going?

St. Ives, Cornwall booked for early June.

Contemplating some winter/Easter sun.

We’ve sadly had to let our caravan go in Snowdonia, so won’t be having our usual few weeks there.

Yes he’s fine cheers, he was only out of the pool for a couple of days. CT scan confirmed he has no brain

  • Probably the right place to share a tale from our French trip that morphs into a recommendation. Armistice Day is a bank holiday in France and the commemorations are always on the 11th, not the S

  • I hope you manage to get back up here before the summer is out and I hope the wife makes a full and speedy recovery.

Move with the times, man.

When the Czechs use it themselves, so will I. 😊

I don’t speak Czech.

So why would I?

Saying čseko would make me sound like a right pretentious cunt

It’s a bit like the Lancs-Gtr. Manchester thing. Younger ones use it.  Many think it sounds too much like Chechnya.

It really does exist. I know that because my free bus travel stops at the Crown Hotel. 😊

My lad goes to college in Preston and he can only go one stop in that direction for free.

Commies again.

I agree 2 weeks is not enough to see everything but not sure I could do 2 weeks there. Can always go back

Lol assumed you were talking about NY ?

That would be a long stretch!

Two weeks in NYC would be hell of a stretch if staying wholly within the city..

Thing is, I’ve seen offers of 3-centre holidays where Iceland, Toronto and NYC are the 3. This is often a 6-day holiday; probably not long enough.

Two weeks with 4 or 5 days in each would be a great way to spend a fortnight though.

You could easily spend 2 weeks in New York state…so much to see and do.

there's absolutely no need to stay in one place in the US for anymore than 3-4 days

get a car and go drive is the best bet

did a road trip in 2 weeks in the south that went nashville to memphis, down through missippi and lousiana to new orleans

if I do it again

i want to do a lake eerie circle taking in bufflalo, nigagra falls, detroit, cleveland and toronto

Some belting places in USA. We're heading to Texas for a few days after the CMAs in Nashville next year. 3 nights in Fort Worth, 2 in Austin

been 3 times

by the 3rd time felt I'd seen what I wanted to see in Manhatten so stayed in Brooklyn

there's Williamsberg there which is proper hipster territory but there's the Brooklyn Brewery and some cool bars

also went down to Coney Island / Brighton Beach at the bottom of Brooklyn which I enjoyed because it was where Requiem For A Dream was set and there's a decent boardwalk, fun fair and aquarium

but it's a trek on the train from Manhatten, probably over an hour, but if it's a nice day then why not, beach and all that

dunno how up close and personal you want to get to the statue of liberty, but you can pay and go on a boat trip there, go up it, do Ellis Island etc - or the alternative is to jump on the staten island ferry for free which goes across the harbour to give similar views of manhatten / brooklyn etc

Don’t know if I’ve missed it or not but did you mention those Go City passes that give you discounts on all the main attractions?

Think it was you that mentioned it pal.

I've had a look and don't think it's worth it imo. Some of the pricing on the site seems wrong. For instance The Edge Observation Deck is quoted at usually being priced $50. But I got mine for $36. Only seems decent if you want to do the bus tour because that alone costs $80.

I'm quite happy picking a few things and paying for them upfront. Some good deals if you look about.

Been looking at using the subway and it's pricing. Can get a unlimited weekly pass that can also be used on bus services for $34. Seems a fair price and no fucking about buying tickets each time.

I've only just seen you reply!

I'm not saying there's any need to stay anywhere for more than a few days, but you could easily spend 2 weeks in New York State alone, it's 1.7 times the size of Ireland!

So it was 😂😂 cheers mate. I’ll have a look at prices doing attractions separate and then go from there.

There’s a basketball match on at MSG when I’m there. They’re playing LA lakers. Cheapest ticket I’ve found so far is £220 and that’s in the heavens. Fuck that

Yeah, sorry, I was trying to get others to make a distinction between NYC and the whole state.
Most people who fly into New York do 3-5 days  and don't leave the city. The state has beach resorts and ski resorts and beautiful countryside etc etc.

Spent a lot of time in Galle with work. Mental place! I loved it. Was last there about 9 years ago. Great food, amazing beaches, take plenty of Mozzie repellents, watch out for the monkeys and when it rains it proper rains. Whereabouts are you going?
