April 5, 20233 yr I'd deffo go into London like we did on Sunday. Coach parked at The Torch at about quarter to 11 so had one in there then headed to Baker St for a few. Lads who stayed in there said trying to get served afterwards was a nightmare.

April 5, 20233 yr In and out on the train & we will do the same again. A one night stay is pointless in the UK re inflexible check-in times etc and dumping cases etc. Everything went 100% to plan. We got tables on both trains, no delays, no queues at pubs, flag up outside The Globe & in the stadium and a great performance to boot.

April 5, 20233 yr Went down on Friday morning 07.55 BA flight from Manchester to Heathrow and back Monday night at 21.30. Hotel in Shepherds Bush reasonably close to underground. All in cost £560 for me and MrsD. I’d stay in same place again. Hotel stored our bags from our arrival around 10.00 until we checked in and again all day on Monday until we picked them up around 18.00. It all meant we had four full days to do touristy stuff.

They're not going to turn you away.
April 5, 20233 yr Wembley’s fucking shit since they stopped the offies selling cans! Shut the Torch hour and half before kick off, 45 minute queue just to get in any other local boozer then massive queues at the bar….
April 5, 20233 yr We went down on Saturday morning, checked into the hotel, the room was ready, then went into that there London for a few and some fodder. Breakfast on Sunday then 15 minute tube to Wembley for a mooch around and a few beers. Some of the bars were charging £10 to go in so we moved along to the next bar that was free. Decided to move to the Novotel to be a bit nearer but should have stayed where we were as 20 minute queue to get in. Into Wembley for 2.15 and back to a bar after the match to let the queues go before back to the hotel for beers and food and then a nice drive home on Monday. Id probably just do the night after the match next time but I had already booked the Sunday and Monday night for the play offs.

April 5, 20233 yr The charging a tenner stunt was just going straight in the bouncers sky, about 9:00 on the Sunday night an irish bar (pinchers or something like that) near Wembley, the bouncer was still trying it, "£10 entry coz we got a singer on", F**k Off was the reply, ok give us a fiver for all 4 of you, Bollox was mentioned as we just pushed past him whilst he just shrugged his shoulders. They takes the pi$$ these cockneys.
April 5, 20233 yr Book your hotel, whichever & wherever, now ... with free cancellation ... rather than wait till it's confirmed that we'll be there. Leave it too late & it'll be tight, and expensive. booking.com do that free cancellation thing & I'm sure others will, even some hotels where you direct book.

Go on then Michael Palin, what's your point? I did 2 consecutive 1-night stays after Wembley and had no trouble whatsoever. Every time I work away in the UK I book 1-night stays, and have never had an issue, regardless of what time I check in. Usually end up booking a last minute stay too, and it's easy.
