Conflicted - Bank Balance, wife, waistline, the cricket club all say yes

The rest of me, all those things put to one side can’t wait for that first game!

Like others the natural transition for me is to replace footy with cricket. Saturdays at Heaton, watching my lad (when his hand heals!) play, Lancs and  the Ashes etc.

always glad to see the back of it, doesn't half drag on

plenty of days at the races for us & a couple of holidays

Might be an age thing but I think a season zips by very quickly, more so with the number of always I’ve been doing the last few years.

Not been there so it’s on the list😂 I’d be more worried if I didn’t have to go!

More than you think mate. Looking forward most to the little john at the mo.

The Little John is a proper shithole, not as bad as the Morris Dancers, but not far off. I do like a shithole pub, just to visit mind. My old favourite in years gone by was the General Havelock, which I presume no longer exists

General havelock went about 10 years ago mate. Can’t do HQ as I’ve been lucky enough to go plenty of times. I’m looking forward to going to LJ as well as plenty more.

Gone!! Used to be The Victory, probably the biggest of the C-O-R pubs.

Depressing that :(

Mind you last time I was in there it was 9am and still open from the night before. Some lass was E'd off her face just dancing with her earphones on in corner.

Did some work at Bolton plastics before going to Uni.

Little John was always a decent pint after the shift. Not been since- 30 odd years.

My Aunt was the owner and landlady of the Little John from the early 70s to the mid 90s I would guess. Always very basic inside but she knew how to keep a decent pint. Did more business at lunchtimes and match days than in the evening I think, Darts teams aside.   Before that she had the Rothwell St Tavern near Derby Street.  Long gone (the Tavern and Aunt).

Back on topic.  I was ready for a rest last week, but I'm already bored of no football.
