The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Apparently, Steve Evans is the new manager at the Gas.

Not sure who this guy is, though?

A nice Christmas present for Gary Rowett at Oxford.  The sack.

Did a great job on their budget, good luck to them attracting anyone better.

There isn't one bit of me that dislikes Oxford though, we could have played any L1 side that day and lost, it just happened to be them.  If I'm grateful for one thing its that it was Oxford rather than a Stockport or Blackpool or even Barnsley etc.

Anyway, Rowett will get another job and do well as usual, but probably in L1 now.

funny one him for me, seems to be highly rated but not done anything of note other than win manager of the month

Got Burton to two play off finals in 2 years, took Brum from 21st in championship to finish 10th.  They were 7th when they sacked him (replaced by Zola).  Got Derby to championship play offs; he was poor at Stoke like everyone else and guilty of signing Benik Afobe.

Had Millwall punching above their weight, in/around top half championship, for 3 consecutive years.  Got Oxford from the relegation zone in Dec last season to finish 17th.  Dropped into relegation zone now for the first time under him after a year.

There are clubs I dislike more than Oxford but I’d love to see them relegated and back in the lower leagues where they belong because I’ll never get past that Wembley defeat and the stamp on Paris that put him out and completely changed the game.

I’d like Oxford and Blackburn to stay up.

They can go down next year when we’ve beaten them in the Championship 😊

Waa shagging a woman for a while and her ex husband was on Oxford fan

He hated my guts but I was happy with it as I was shagging his missus and we beat them them 5-0 so all was good

Then I stopped shagging her and we lost at Wembley

So now I hate Oxford as I know he still hates me

aye, pretty much a career of taking clubs on good runs, hence the MOTM awards

there will be lesser regarded managers with promotions on their CVs I'm sure

like Evatt

Plenty of better managers out there of course, but also a lot of managers with promotions on their CV that have only achieved that with money to spend relative to the rest of the division.  Dare I say Parky - only ever seems to be in charge of a team that's a relatively big fish (financially and/or size of club).

Rowett had Burton, Oxford, Millwall, all half the size of their competitors at a guess.  The other thing in his favour is that he's got longevity, plenty of managers have a great couple of seasons and live off that reputation for ages, he has done mostly good jobs since 2012.  As Parky has to be fair to him.

Parky has a got a tremendous CV all things considered.

He won't be short of work when Wrexham get bored of him and want a big name.

Darren Moore gone at Port Vale.

Hopefully they get some sacked manager bounce at Bradford tomorrow

Three and a half years left on his contract.

Moore seems a nice guy but never a manager.

Agreed.  A trusty assistant or overseeing football operations etc, never came across as a manager type and it always surprises me when he gets a job (even though he's got promotions on his CV, to go with the relegations).

Aye just having a look

Was never keeping West brom up but they were in a play off spot when he left

As were Doncaster

Sheff Weds promoted with 96 points

Had a Shocker at Huddersfield

Got port vale promoted

Plenty there to get himself another L1 or L2 job

WBA had come down from Prem and had a great squad for the championship (Harvey Barnes, Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez, Craig Dawson etc) but he under achieved, even lost at home to us😀 (Wildschut's one good minute).

Can't argue with his Sheff Wed promotion even though Wednesday fans were calling for his head after that 4-0 defeat at Posh in the play off 1st leg!  Fair play to him for winning the play offs from that position.

Dire at Huddersfield as you say.

Vale weren't in the relegation zone when he took over, then he lost 11 out of 16 and took them down.

Promoted last season, obviously did well, but was taking them down this season before being put out of his misery.

A genuinely decent bloke though, just needs to find the right job that suits him, probably not as a manager.
