The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Straight to wing backs yesterday Blackpool.

Excellent, let’s hope he’s stubborn enough to never move from it because we’ll wallop them at home if they turn up with wingbacks (ie Wigan).

Football is mad in that 90 minutes decided whether his tenure was a failure or not.

Funny old game.

He should've been out the door before the players had taken their boots off.

The worst part is he was given a rare chance to carry on after Oxford. The board  maybe felt that continuity could give us competitive advantage and backed him, which I had no problem with at the time. Then they signed John McAtee & Szabi Schon for the best part of £2m and had bids turned down for Randall. What we needed was a target man, a bit more pace & power at wing back and a bit more bite in midfield. When this yielded predicatable results he went into the January transfer window under pressure to such an extent that a experienced target man chose Lincoln instead of us. Then he went and signed Randall anyway.

Absolutely barking mad and the board were just as responsible.

Schumacher/Harkin et al have undone an awful lot of damage in a single transfer window.

Peterborough (who are shite, we should remember) probably weren’t sure how to set up against a team with a new manager. Now Evatt has nailed his colours to the mast, I suspect it will be fairly easy to prepare against them. Watch some Bolton games, mixed in with Blackpool ones.

Let’s see how they fair against Cardiff, Burton and Orient.

based on the match stats, looks like Peterborough battered them.

Martin O'Neill in, he's 73 now.

Probably while Ange recharges his batteries.

He called Jim White a mop head the other week.

Ayr v Dunfermline on Friday. Scott Brown v Neil Lennon. Virtually an open interview.

Heard him via Football Cliches the other day having an angry rant about modern football terminology, it just didn't seem like him!

Edit - Though to be fair mop head is the least Jim White deserves

Hard to disagree with him really.

He was always playing the nutty professor role, I can't say he sounds any more barking (in a good way) than he ever did.  Doesn't mean I'd want him as our manager but he's amusing in small doses.

Leam Richardson in at Reading, took James Beattie with him (Blackburn connection?).

Always liked Richardson with his Bolton link and always very calm, honest and respectful when he managed Wigan.

If we were appointing here and now, I’d be happier with Richardson than O’Neil and not just because he’d pay a little bit more attention to data and be open to bringing in a range of specialist coaches.

IMO, O’Neil sounds like the outdated 73 year old he is.

It wasnt that interview (I didnt know he'd gone on multiple platforms to moan, actually) it was on Talksport with White and Jordan, from the Cliches episode of 1 October.

He sounds a fair bit more frazzled on the TS one, although I suppose you would when having to spend your morning with them two.

Luke Williams new manager at Posh.

Ex-Swansea and Notts County, got them promoted into EFL.

Decent appointment for them that he dud a cracking job at Notts County and probably took on a difficult role at Swansea but should do well for Posh.

Could you imagine working for Darragh MacAnthony ?

He's not completely stupid but fires from the hip almost continually.

Is he the tippy tappy 6 yard box merchant that Swansea potted? Give them the high press and they’ll concede 5 a week

Wolves sacked their manager today, no real surprise .

The fucking idiots gave him a new contract 3 weeks ago.

Never mind it’s the Premiership and money means nothing there.

Would love it if they beat derbys lowest points record. Horrible dog head bastards.

Strange that none of these clubs have ever, as far as we know, approached Dave Challinor at County who’s done a fabulous job there. With potential opportunities coming up at Blackburn, Norwich and Southampton surely someone will give him a try?

During the Portuguese take-over & Nuno's reign I developed a grudging respect for them.

Thoroughly undone since thankfully, despite me feeling hopeful for O'Neil.
