  • I really wouldn't care if we'd knocked a hatful of goals in against the DMB great grandmothers. It's a big win against the filth that will cause some discomfort somewhere in that rancid organisation.

  • Was zog wrong ?    Coz he seldom is

  • Nail’s going in where? 🤣 Anyway. As  @radcliffe white   pointed out, this means very little if we don’t follow it up Saturday. One of the pleasing aspects of our run last year is that these

I was wondering why he was pulling his shirt over his head - presumably a message about this on the shirt underneath - so I hope it was caught on camera and the lads' family get to see it.

As an aside, someone put together a compilation of Dan's excellent contribution in the Posh game on Twitter - and then following it up with a couple of goals last night maybe we are seeing the beginnings of him coming good?

That’s the hope for everyone connected with bwfc.

I think there’s something there.

But doing it last night and in league games are 2 different things altogether.

There’s been flashes - at Bristol Rovers away last year he was excellent.

But we need to see a level of consistency to be convinced.

But games like last night can only be a positive, next time he comes on the pitch his confidence levels will be enhanced and that can often be part of the battle with strikers.

This competition format is utterly ridiculous, however it’s probably done us a favour tonight, not so for the u21 Man U kids.

Strange, but I’m feeling more annoyed about the competition format as well than I am pleased about the result. Should be boycotted by EFL teams.

The result has the potential to give us a boost as we definitely have another few levels in us. But it won’t mean anything if we don’t follow up with a win at the weekend.

I think that against Posh he had a job to do specifically trying to push their line back and keep them honest and he did it well, but against the kids he was full on attack and he had no problem having a go. Sometimes I think that whilst he does a good job recycling the ball he doesn't take his opportunities to get a shot off or make the more aggressive attacking run - especially when he's partnering Dion - and maybe he's under instruction to be Dion's foil? But I'd like him to to be a bit more greedy at times and perhaps last night's well taken goals will give him the confidence to do that more often.

Last night was more about the fringe players, the kids and resting the weekend's starting players though so it shouldn't really impact the league games so much.  Playing the suspended players and back up strikers made sense - although personally I'd like to have seen more B team much earlier.

I think to show consistency Dan needs to have a run of games but will IE trust him with that? We have four strikers who could all make a claim to start but Ian can only pick two and that’s usually Dion and Vic. I think in the last two games, Dan and Bod have actually shown that they could be a good pair together but I just don’t see IE giving up on Dion and Vic to do it.

Was it not because his friend had passed away?

When I saw the result I thought they had played that shithouse Evans and Maguire.

It would have been 18-1 if they had played them 2

He made a couple of very good passes .. but that was it.  If he'd not played for us last season I'd not have noticed him at all. L2 career  at best for him.

It irritated me a little bit to see/hear how it's the first time we've scored 8 since playing Walsall.  Not it isn't.  last night wasn't a real game. We've probably scored 8+ goals against non league teams in friendlies over the years.  Results against U-21s shouldn't be in the record books.

The above rant aside, the positives to take are Nlundulu and Bod finding the net and the young lad who came on as sub scoring too. Hopefully the team can take a bit of confidence into the weekend.

It's still a first team game for us though.

If we'd done it to a lower level, non-league side in the fa cup, should that not count either?

Understand your point, but it's not our players' fault that they have to play these silly games.

But that'd be a senior team versus a senior team

It's a regulated fixture as part of the season

We have no option but to play it

We can pick who we want in friendlies

Quite.

If one of our senior players got injured, he'd still be out of a league game. Not sure the age of the opponent matters when it comes to personal stats as it can work both ways.

Who the fuck watched him and thought he’d do a job for us, more work in a sick note.

A match thats officially classed as a first team fixture for one team but not the other. Mental.

It is bizarre, and makes a mockery of the competition.

As elsewhere though, for those lads who scored, especially the younger ones, it will still mean a lot.

I think he played well against us last year in the same game.

If they want to pad this competition out beyond the 48 EFL teams, why not invite the National league teams into it?
The games would be more competitive.

I'm not sure why you think I've disputed any of those things

To be fair, it's a competition for clubs within the EFL

But the intention wasn't to make it more competitive but to assist with the negotiations with the Premier League over the "solitary payments"

Never said I disputed it

I didn't take it as criticism, I was just confused about the point being made
