  • I really wouldn't care if we'd knocked a hatful of goals in against the DMB great grandmothers. It's a big win against the filth that will cause some discomfort somewhere in that rancid organisation.

Professional. Stuck at it, youngsters too.

Not a boring performance by the sounds of it.

Hope the Utd fans thought it was worthwhile missing their 1st team to watch that.

Anyway. As  @radcliffe white   pointed out, this means very little if we don’t follow it up Saturday.

One of the pleasing aspects of our run last year is that these games were often followed by league wins and often kick started a good spell.

As I said pre-match these games are great for getting some combinations together. Tonight that back 3 have had a chance to get some game together which is important for Saturday.

The following observations are tempered by the fact it was against United’s kids.  But nevertheless Pleasing to see:

- Sheehan being a class act

- Bod get a goal before he went off

- Dan bag a brace

- Some Young  B team lads getting a run out and Khumbeni and Matheson getting a goal

- Morley grow into the game

- Jones being lively and effective as a RWB

The only negative for me was the left hand side. Iredale can play a lovely pass but I’m frightened to death when a forward turns and runs at him. Williams blows hot and cold too much.

But finishing with a positive always nice to see a side in that red vermin kit concede goals, 8 of them as well 🤣, even better when it’s the white shirts of BWFC who have done it

Hope Evatt bollocks them for the goal we conceded! Whos 1st with the fishing rod?

That last paragraph is absolutely spot on.

This competition format is utterly ridiculous, however it’s probably done us a favour tonight, not so for the u21 Man U kids.

A comment from the BN that he was very willing to receive the ball from the keeper, despite being closely guarded.

Certainly not hiding.

Fair play those who went, proper die hards I did notice most stayed to the end. (From comfort of my front room)

Not a chance you can relate attending that game to the definition of being a die hard fan. Particularly as, purely by attending tonight, they’ve attached ten quids worth of credibility to the U21 farce.

George bossed it tonight. My only concern was that Baxter played that short ball up the middle which GT then lays off to the wing far too often inasmuch that it's becoming predictable but he's strong on the ball and unlike Maddison for Spurs on Sunday doesn't dawdle so he can be trusted to do it.

If George can iron out the occasional risky pass and late challenge he'll be a top player.

any highlights around?

had 8 - 0 - fucking munich twats

Just got back from work, got a few messages from my man u mate from uni who went tonight (he's a bit hard core) even though it's the U21s still nice to win ad he thinks every red team should beat us.

What's the cunt said?

Nice words from Dan:

DAN Nlundulu dedicated his two goals against Manchester United’s Under-21s to former team-mate, Ben Cull, who died last week from a rare bone cancer.

The Wanderers striker scored twice in an 8-1 rout at the Toughsheet Stadium, showing a message of support on his vest after celebrating the goals.

Cull, a former Southampton academy star who played for England youth, sadly passed away at the age of 23 after battling against the disease for six years.

Nlundulu came through the ranks at St Mary’s and played 15 times for the Saints’ first team before moving to Wanderers on a full-time basis in summer.

Speaking to The Bolton News after the game, he said: “It is an emotional one. My friend, Ben Cull, who I’d played in the academy with for the last 10 years, he died of cancer last week.

“I had been wearing that shirt under my top for the last two games now and I said to myself I’d keep doing it until I got a goal, so both of them are for him.

“This has been an important day not just because I got my goals but to celebrate him as well.”

Nlundulu had not scored since making his move to Bolton permanent but was delighted to get off the mark in what was his fourth start of the campaign in all competitions.

“I have needed it,” he said. “I am delighted to get the first ones of the season and it took a lot of patience, building the confidence in the minutes I have been getting, but I knew today I had to get out there and get the goals.

“I had to show the gaffer and give him the belief that if there are injuries or if there is a loss of form then there is someone on the bench ready to come in and score.”

Nlundulu has managed just 185 minutes of football for Bolton in League One, which he says has made it more difficult to find his rhythm.

“There is expectation, fans expect, and if I am honest I feel like they lost a bit of faith in me and there was a lot of pressure to get the goals,” he said. “But I haven’t felt it, the gaffer has tried to keep my confidence high, and that is why I came here. I have said it before, he is the best manager I have ever had. I need an arm around my shoulder sometimes and he has always told me the goals will come and that he believes in me.

“You are only as good as your last game, though, so I have to keep going now.”

I was wondering why he was pulling his shirt over his head - presumably a message about this on the shirt underneath - so I hope it was caught on camera and the lads' family get to see it.

As an aside, someone put together a compilation of Dan's excellent contribution in the Posh game on Twitter - and then following it up with a couple of goals last night maybe we are seeing the beginnings of him coming good?
