January 16, 20242 yr Everton overspent by over £300m. They wiggled out of a load because of Covid and then some more because of the new ground. Then some more because of lost sponsorship because Usminov was sanctioned. That still left them well over. Then whilst being watched did it again. Ive really no idea what the problem is, they're guilty as charged ffs. Forest look like they fucked it with the Johnson sale, hung on for more dough but the deal got done too late. Reckon they'll get away with it. City are being charged by UEFA on a completely different set of circumstance. The 127 charges will end up about 10 and theyll get the book thrown at em big style. Theyve already been charged and dealt with but the court of arbitration stepped in to appeal to punishment. They'll get banned from the CL or summet. Its UEFA not the Premier League, why cant people grasp this? Everton broke one big giant rule by some margin....twice. Citys charges are intricate to fuck. Hidden cash and all kinds of stuff. Stuff like that always takes years to sort. It took em 4 years to nail Andy Pilley ffs.

I suppose the danger is clubs continually falling into the boom and bust trap- like we did. These rules were introduced to help prevent that iirc. Whether they work as well as intended is open to debate.

I actually find them quite interesting because of the differences and the investigating organisations. Will UEFA do anything? Will City fight a long and protracted legal battle? Each to their own like The SKY comment was just flippant and me being a dick about SKY

January 16, 20242 yr I was wrong about who is running overriding charges on City, it is the PL but with UEFA involvement. I stand corrected @zico

January 16, 20242 yr Dunno, but half the family are Everton fans because of Young Allan - and it does seem they are being punished twice. Plus - they were one of the few clubs that helped us when we were fucked. And for that reason I'm with them on this.

It’s to keep those with loads of glory hunters at the top. In my opinion.

Thing is, those who spend the most also have the most outgoings, and it doesn't necessarily prove successful, which is the risk they take. Everton have shown that- had they been more successful, they'd have had more income and not necessarily fallen foul of ffp. Utd are nowhere near, and neither are Chelsea. No doubt others too.

Fair play. Crack on. There is something wrong with it in my opinion as in the premier league and they are making rods for their own backs when it will become obvious they’ll protect their big 6 or whatever it is. Even the half and half winter break is gay. Just have a week off. Most people would of survived ha.

In terms of viewing, many folk would prefer to watch the best teams, irrespective of who they are. Chelsea against Newcastle (arguably as big as some others on crowds) doesn't have the interest it might once have had. The break is well and truly soft though.

I’d rather teams are top 6 due to earning it regardless of status. I think my thought process is one on the wane though granted.

That is changing slowly. OK Newcastle and Chelsea may well be stronger next time, but they can't all be at the top. West Ham have the second biggest capacity in the PL, yet they're miles off too. I enjoy the way Brighton play too, and they're way "smaller" that the traditional big boys.

Newcastle will hit a ceiling…already having issues spending in this window. Fergie, Wenger, jose, conte, ancelotti, pep never ever had to talk about spending rules restricting growth. Newcastle miss out on CL, they will be back to square 1 with this plan to grow, its that hard now. Villa will hit same ceiling…the the big boys come and cherry pick their manager and players….then back to square 1 again.

We had 37 games to correct it, another error over Easter v Leeds was more critical & irreversible. It's one of the reasons I'm not that into technology overuling decision after decision. Albeit 'did it cross the fckg line ?' is less controversial than most. Errors happen, players, managers, officials, pundits, fans make them. Get over it.
