City are more complicated about hiding it so takes longer

Forest and Everton have been stupid and made it obvious

Just read it about Forest and Everton, if these 2 get sanctioned (more for Everton) then what the fuck will happy to the Oil barons in Manchester

as I understand it

Everton admitted it as well, or didn't hide it

their beef is the penalty, they want to know what criteria was used to decide 10 points was the penalty

the problem is, it was done by an independant panel, so it's not like they have a set of rules / guidelines as to how to come up with the penalty, they just decided 10 points was sufficient

a different panel may look at forest, and even if identical circumstances, with no procedure, they could just as easily land on 8 or 12 points, or 10, or whatever

likewise, City are also being investigated indepandantly

they also fall under differnt regulations

they could end up with 6 points for far greater breaches, in theory

I'm pretty sure they work to set of criteria that is the same for everyone.

The independent aspect is to avoid any suggestion of a conflict of interest etc.

But isn't Everton's complaint that there's no precedent for a charge that high

How many teams have been done for it in similar circumstances so there's no precedent

There has to be a deterrent or teams will just think if the punishment is two or three points then they can claim that back with a win and take the risk

yes, basically, there will be never a predecent if every case is looked at by an indepandant body who aren't following a matrix or process of some sort

There would be if Everton got done

They did whatever they did and for that they got points deducted

Everything has to start from somewhere

Let the independent body devise the matrix and work from there

Otherwise who starts the starting position?

Make it up as they go along.

the premier league should be the ones to devise it

not sure why it's independant, seems to me the PL just want to palm it off elsewhere and not want any accountabilty

but if one independant body uses something set up by another indepedant body, then it's not independant

the premier league shoukd be the ones who need to devise those guidelines, imo

A lot of investigations outside of footy get passed to independent bodies

They'll be aware of the facts, the punishments etc

Didn't an independent body clear us over points deduction over Brentford called off game and later Doncaster?

Slightly different but good example I’d the punishments handed out to Toney and Tonali. I’d say the fact one can train and the other couldn’t is odd.

hope they get this sorted, (from a Liverpool fan)

The league will be using independent folk, so that there can be no accusations of a conflict of interest etc. You can understand that; it is the same when public inquiries are conducted by a judge.

The relevant minister will initiate it, but it then goes to an independent assessor, who will make the decisions according to the law.

An employment tribunal is a similar system used in disputes between employers and employees.

This is essentially the same- I don't get your reasoning for your comments about accountability etc- by initiating the process, but then leaving the analysis to someone not connected to the club/league etc then any suggestions by either party of any conflicts are prevented. This process is something all clubs will be aware of, and will have to accept as part of being a league member.

Some already believe there is an imbalance in the way as clubs are treated by the PL etc, imagine what that would be like if they carried out their own investigations and punishments.

Fuck all will happen against the Massives

Fair points but essentially for me I can see Everton's beef

The PL need to get their shit together, independent bodies or otherwise

No doubt there's plenty more breaches, charges and appeals to come and I'll bet there's no consistency in the approach and outcomes

The Premier League does not have guidelines which prevent a club being sanctioned for alleged breaches in financial periods which have already been subject to punishment, unlike other governing bodies, including the EFL. As a result — and because of the Premier League’s new commitment to deal with such matters “in-season” — the club is in a position where it has had no option but to submit a PSR calculation which remains subject to change, pending the outcome of the appeal.

“The club must now defend another Premier League complaint which includes the very same financial periods for which it has already been sanctioned, before that appeal has even been heard. The club takes the view that this results from a clear deficiency in the Premier League’s rules.

What's a psr calculation?

Doesn't seem like they've (PL) have helped themselves, though as @DirtySanchez says, this will become the precedent.

It does seem odd though to be going ahead with another case before the appeal on the first has been heard, unless they're totally separate charges. Don't know enough about either case to comment on that specific point.

I suppose they could get another (10 point) deduction, to make it 20. Then an appeal that reduces to first to say 5, and then maybe another appeal at some later date on the second case, which could also see a reduction.

In other words the table could be all over the place, which will piss off clubs near to them.

By dragging their feet 2 or 3 years ago Everton managed to get a points deduction AFTER the season ended. So they have form oin foot-dragging manipulation.

The EPL need to be aware of that and not allow lawyers to play these games again. It does seem they're trying to do that.

It is, and has been for years. Its only CIty that drag it to the "best in the world" everyone else is meh.

City have been playing at 50% for 6 momths now, and are still only 1 win away from top.🤣

Everton overspent by over £300m. They wiggled out of a load because of Covid and then some more because of the new ground. Then some more because of lost sponsorship because Usminov was sanctioned. That still left them well over.

Then whilst being watched did it again.

Ive really no idea what the problem is, they're guilty as charged ffs.

Forest look like they fucked it with the Johnson sale, hung on for more dough but the deal got done too late. Reckon they'll get away with it.

City are being charged by UEFA on a completely different set of circumstance. The 127 charges will end up about 10 and theyll get the book thrown at em big style.

Theyve already been charged and dealt with but the court of arbitration stepped in to appeal to punishment.

They'll get banned from the CL or summet.

Its UEFA not the Premier League, why cant people grasp this?

Everton broke one big giant rule by some margin....twice.

Citys charges are intricate to fuck. Hidden cash and all kinds of stuff. Stuff like that always takes years to sort.

It took em 4 years to nail Andy Pilley ffs.
