Probably a good job decisions aren't made on friendlies against a bunch of kids really.  We could read back comments from those cup games against U21s and there would be players in the 1st team now th

Hell yeah that would be good, but going to be planty of issues with travel & parking to start off, before people get new routines and newrer transport facilities are sorted.

**Saying that though, I doubt they would pay £200 million just to put a car park on it, think it would more likely be similar to whats at CItys ground.

These would still be issues at any new location for a ground, we do have an larger issuse with our transport infastructure UK wide, even without new grounds in pretty much City centre locations.

You're right, imagine they'd be looking to develop something in the hospitality line that would make them money year-round as well as on / around matchdays

The transport situation will hopefully work itself out over half a season or so. As you say, not many grounds that are a doddle to get away from, ours is no shining light in that regard.

That place is everything I loved about football.

Dark horrible streets filled with pubs, the smell of burger vans and random folk shouting.

Walking through those terraces houses wondering what it would be like to live there. Always found it mad I'd be there with 40k footy fans watching a match and some old Queen is sat watching Catchphrase as you walk past.

Always proper intimidating round there, especially at night. Could always feel a buzz and local passion, in the blood and all that.

That shitty stand with wooden seats is what it's all about. Racket coming from the home end, screeching on every decision.

Had some of the best days and nights ever there, some of the worst too coming away robbed or beat by the wind.

Not been in ages but I'll miss the gaff.

Another proper football ground gone and another nail in the coffin of tradition.

Hope it's worth what they'll leave behind.

Folk mention problems getting away. I reckon it’s gonna be easier than leaving the Reebok in its first seasons. I mean it is pretty wank even now.

they will sort the transport. The issues with the station no doubt be worked. They will have shuttle buses as well.

it’s only 3.5km from Goodison as it is. Plenty of transport available.

closer to limestreet than Goodison

really hope the park stuff takes off it will be mint

Hopefully they get it right, and just listen and responde to the fans and what people want.

So far, so good.

It all works itself out in the end transport wise, always does.

Big things like covered waiting areas need sorting. I can see a couple of extra trains being laid on to get you back into town. It’s a 30 minute walk back to to moorefields then you can get to Chester and limestreet easily.

Agree with that. One of the best and last proper grounds. It was never the same after they filled the semi circles in behind the goals.

Sums it up well. Always a cracking atmosphere - whining or not.

Cold hard truth is we have to move, we all got on board with that years and years ago.....almost 30 years we have been trying to move, its well over-due.

Everton lose money each home game, while others make millions - that just can't continue if we want to move on as a club.

We have been told for decades how bad Goodison is, proper dump, shithole, embarasing....Woodison by EVERY set of fans in the country.....and now we are moving to this stunnner.......everyone loves Goodison all of a sudden!! 🤣

It is. Fuck knows what these soppy cunts are on about.

I love looking at grounds. Old and new. They are like cathedrals. But I have to say that I'm totally unimpressed by Everton's new home. Looks like a posh St Andrews. Also locating it next to water will make getting away from the area an absolute nightmare. Unless you have a boat that is.

Growing up I was a bit obsessed with seeing football grounds - either from going to games or while on family holidays in England or Scotland (plenty of pics of me inside grounds in 80s summers...Dumbarton, Ayr, Norwich, Hull etc!).  But its disappointing they all look identikit now, and the lack of terraces makes them less appealing.

I prefer to see non league grounds as they have generally not been modified and so retain character and originality (not many better than Chorley).

I never went to Goodison when it was like that, looks fantastic on the old clips on TV (Latchford, King, Dobson).

But you're right, the ground wasn't the same when they made the Park End (away end) really small, and the even newer Park End in last 25 years or so is completely characterless (the rest of the ground isn't though - just too cramped/old).

Terrible stand, should have been a massive 2 tierd end at least.

Almost prefab those stands in the mid 90s weren't they. Wolves, Blackburn, even Tranmwere all got the same metal boxes.

Surprised it's not being referred to as a different ground name all of a sudden.  Like I'd only ever heard of West Ham's ground referred to as Upton Park all my life.  Suddenly it was the Boleyn Ground in its last season.

Yea, cheap looking and quick to throw up, horrible.

It's a bit of a shitty patchwork job of a stadium. Looks like a bunch of random stands have just been plonked there.

I do like The Sewage Works arena for their new gaff :D

35 degrees. Steepest you're allowed to build in accordance with the law, apparently.

Same as the top tier at Denver's Mile High stadium.
Standing up on the back row of that is an experience.

Goodson is a shit hole full of the most whining bitter fans in the country.

When we played at Wolves in the White Hot years (2-0, Scott Green etc), they'd just built the stand opposite the big North Bank (which was still a massive terrace, split between home & away).  There was no stand to our left so the new one was really isolated.  I couldn't believe how flimsy and cheap it looked.  Being yellow as well made it look like a Meccano set.
