Duck Egg
Great England manager and that performance v the Dutch - wow! His club management started off successfully but was mired in some very dodgy arrangements that were probably common place behind the scenes in football at that time. RIP
Site Supporter desperado Posted November 26, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted November 26, 2023 Gutted about this. Really charismatic manager. Loved how he managed England and brought The best out of players like Gazza, Shearer etc. And Euro 96 - wow the Holland and Scotland games are up there in my all time favourites. RIP El Tel
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 26, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted November 26, 2023 Euro 96 was a bit special, irrespective of not winning. Working in Manc, travelling in through bomb devastation, fans still attending in numbers and not cowed. Signed flag left by the Czech fans in the boozer on Oldham Street. Then England's performances on top. A special time. RIP Terry Venables.

Dr. Feelgood
Now this was a man who believed in set piece preparation. He was once challenged about it on Football Focus &, Allardyce like, pointed out that a goal from one was worth EXACTLY the same as one from open play & why would anyone not to that ? Zulu
I was lucky to attend every England game of the Euro 1996 tournament - hosting hospitality for my then company’s top UK and European customers and suppliers. Absolutely fantastic memories. Thanks Tel. RIP.

Wanderlust
Decent player, better manager IMO. Have a mate who is the spitting image of him - knows FA about football who was shocked when he came into the pub during the SA WC and everyone was chanting at him - a measure of the real TV’s popularity. Great bloke and manager by all accounts from everyone I’ve met who knew him. Sad to see another part of my life move on. RIP Tel.
