March 14, 20242 yr This will probably be the most intimidating atmosphere most have played in but so it will be for the Derby players too so the pressure will be on both teams. If we can get ahead and subdue their fans it will just increase the pressure on their players. Hopefully it won’t be unexpected as Ian will be saying this to the players all week, especially as it’s their Black n White day. With Posh winning last night we both need to win this and only settle for a draw if we have to so I expect a fantastic game.
March 14, 20242 yr Our 22nd game in 75 days - half a season compressed into 2.5 months and a proper roller coaster ride for the most part. As intense as it's been, for once I actually welcome the international break following this game and hope our players who go on international duty aren't picked to play so they can rest for a while. But first, one final effort and I only hope the lads can reproduce the pace, focus, intensity, discipline and quality they showed against Oxford. A win at Derby would be massive, not only to get ahead of them in the race for the autos but also to keep Posh who are hot on our heels at bay - we really don't want to be in a position where we're dependent on our rivals getting beaten as they'll be giving everything whilst there's so much at stake. COYFWM! Do 'em.
March 14, 20242 yr Popular Post Play our game, don't give anything stupid away and control possession. Their fans will start getting on their backs when they can't get a kick of the ball. As for the big game feel, it's certainly our biggest league game in some years. But most of these lads did it at Wembley in front of 80,000 last year. Keep the faith and believe. COYWM.
March 14, 20242 yr Play with the tempo we played on Tuesday night and there's not a team in this league that can cope with us. It was noticeable how much less we played the ball back to the 'keeper and IMO we should continue doing this as it keeps the tempo of our play much higher.

On the flip-side, derby are MUCH more able to win the headers and the second balls. They're set up this way. Win the ball and spring quickly and effectively.

March 14, 20242 yr Derby fans predicting 31k attendance for this. Atmosphere will be hostile so the lads will have to be on the top of their game AND keep their heads/discipline if we're going to come away with our first ever win at Pride Park.
March 14, 20242 yr Any excuses. Let’s get into em. We are due one. I don’t rate them as anything better than us and 1 point in it suggests I’m right. 2-1 us.

March 14, 20242 yr Can't think of a single player that hasn't been slagged off on here at some point or other this season - waste of space one week, God the next according to some folk. Reality is they can all perform well on their day and all we need is them all performing well until the end of the season.
March 14, 20242 yr If we play the Same Team we have a Chance if he Gets the Bingo Machean out Who Knows

Presumably its easier said than done, or we'd all have more points. Throw in the influence of the ref and luck and we have to accept its in the lap of the gods, what will be will be. I intend to enjoy the good moments when they come and Tuesday was definitely one of those.
March 14, 20242 yr Appreciate it was early on in the season but they are still one of the most disappointing sides I’ve seen at our place this season considering their now lofty position. Typical warne away performance, back line defaulted to a back 6 when we had it with 4 in front. Simple aim of a breakaway through Mendez- Laing to grab something. Which is where I think their penalty actually stemmed from? they seem to have stumbled on a 3-4-3 formation of late which has accounted for them being slightly more on the front foot so will be interesting to see if Warne sticks with that or reverts to a more middle ground. I think in games of this nature you always see cautious managers revert to type so he’ll give us the respect and try and close the pitch down and hit us in the spaces behind our wing backs. ML and Gayle on the break will be a handful

March 14, 20242 yr Anything could happen on Saturday in our game and the others, meaning Saturday 5pm the promotion picture could be looking completely different. Pompey and Derby could both win. Or even Posh, us and Barnsley all win our games, dragging Pompey back in the very thick of it, leaving both 1st and 2nd up for grabs for 5 teams. We've had a shit ton of difficult times with an unrelenting period of no rest, like Evatt eluded to, we will be much stronger after the international break when we go to Stevenage. After the Stevenage game, that will have been our 7th away game in our last 10 matches, facing the likes of Barnsley, Oxford, Derby, Stevenage, Exeter(tricky long away day) and 2 horrible derby games away from home. If we can continue to be there or thereabouts after Stevenage, then that's a hell of a tough period that we will have come out with A LOT of credit, especially considering all the injuries and turbulence. Let's give our all Saturday, get a positive result and regroup for the run in. We've got 3 of our last 4 games all at home. If we can get the business done in that period, then hopefully go to Posh on the last day with not too much to do. Edited March 14, 20242 yr by Lostock Whites
