There's obviously still a market for pisspots. But not a big enough market for the bigger gaffs to survive without being part of a food based chain. When our peg ran her pub the brewery were paying £28k a month rent! It's all good to me, nice to see businesses flourish. Quote

Zico Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 for some reason I always had a micro pub down as being a micro brewery, i.e they brewed on the premises like Rivvy or Brewery Bar but if the likes of B33R in Horwich are micro pubs, is the definition just a premises that used to be a shop or something that's been converted? athywhite1958 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Yep, Athy has a few now, not a bad night out (so I'm told) Quote

jmjhb Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 (edited) So basically, if there's space to swing a cat, it's not a micropub. *No cats were harmed in this post Edited July 21, 2024 by jmjhb Quote

I think I'd only really heard the term micro breweries which generally have a bar as well Always thought of what appears to be a micro pub as just a bar Like Sam's bar in Horwich Never heard the circus tavern referred to as micro and that's fucking tiny And shit Quote
DazBob Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I suppose the Circus Tavern was a bit of a one-off, so no need for a name. With them now having been shooting up everywhere for the last few years they needed a specific name, especially for the hipsters. Quote
