Santos was Captain on the teamsheets through pre-season so looks like he's keeping it.

Can’t win here Santos can he? 🀣

option 1;

He cracks on as a captain, which in all honesty means very little on the pitch. But as the name carries some pride and association with it, let’s say he’s keen to hold onto it, not to relinquish it as he still feels it’s something he can do while maintaining good performances - critics clamour that Evatt and Santos are weak and there should have been a change.

option 2;

Santos and Evatt chat and agree to take captaincy off him. Translated as Santos has told IE he doesn’t want to be captain - critics will moan that we had it wrong in first place or Santos has no pride relinquishing captaincy.

The most likely scenario is, a talk has taken place, Santos will remain captain, but leadership duties will have some shared responsibility and delegated throughout some of the likely candidates; Thomo, Demps, Airfield, Jones - critics will moan it’s not enough as Santos should have been publicly shamed for standing on the ball too long.

I think it’s the most overrated topic of influential discussion we’ve had post Wembley. Yes we need leaders and experience (aka Airfield) but they don’t need to wear β€œcaptain armband” on a Saturday.Β

Good.

As I predicted back in July.

Lots of leaders in this team now.

Taking the captaincy away from him would have been a demoralising action.

While he may not be a shouter, organiser on the pitch, he leads by example and he’s well respected in the dressing room, good qualities for a captain.

Who wears the armband on the pitch is irrelevant, we need a collective responsibility out there. The likes of Arfield and Thomason will be crucial this season.

Young george is the one who does the rousing in the huddle, am hoping he will learn a lot from arfield and am expecting a fantastic season from himΒ

I don’t think the 3 signed this week will start, he’ll use those who’ve played most pre-season.

I think one or two on the verge of the first team squad....Not naming them but we all know who they will be should now be taken out the squad until moved on. Lets be honest they will just go through the motions. Doubt any will bust a gut

If Charles hadn’t spent most of pre-season injured, I’d agree with you

Johnston won't start tomorrow.Β

Going off Evatt's comments in the BN, he might not do for a while- at least in the league.

Tbf, Vic’s been our best forward in pre-season.

I hadn’t seen those. But it makes sense, I understand it. Forino or Iredale then?Β

Yeah, I think that’s what he’ll go with.

Bench will be strong, to say the least.

IE has never really chosen iredale ahead of Jones.

It shouldn't be but I can see the back three being Toal, Rico, Jones

Jones is injured atm.

Think he’ll find it hard to get back in, once he’s fit.

Fair enough about him being injured.

Jones is one of Evatts key players once fit he'll be in the team

I agree.

Decent start, with Toal in that position (and Forrester available) and it won't be easy.

I think IE sees Forrester as player 7 in the pecking order for the back 3
