Plovdiv. Those happy faces walking down the sea-front in disbelief.

Bournemouth/Hull week. How the hell did we manage to win both? Last min goal and 10 men.

Barrow 3-3 Covid. Last minute equaliser on the step-ladder and only 2 of us there.

Had to have a proper think on this. But I’m going for the Liverpool fa cup replay. Was driving and missed kick off. Remember when we scored the first and hundreds of our fans jumped out of our cars celebrating. Got in 10 mins later. That performance by David Lee is up there with one of the best I’ve seen. I’m going back watching to 77 btw. Just out of interest have we ever had a poster on here who was at the 58 final?

Late lamented Rembrandt was at that and '66.

I wondered about Biffo - I think he was just a bit too young? Mind you, R can only have been in teens in '58

I had a great Bolton moment this morning. My 10yr old grandson moved to Australia 4 yrs ago and all his mates wear City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal kits.

He WhatsApp'd me this morning...

Great picture… love that pink/blue kit very smart.

Bolton v Preston - reward for our progress under BS and the start of our Prem Journey and what was to become, 3 great goals also, Rickett's goal still gives me goosebumps.

Bolton 2-1 Boro - bit selfish, but I used to love watching Okocha and the thought of us going down and no doubt losing, JJ, Youri etc with it really was nerve shredding and a huge relief/happy moment, had a proper fear as a teenager Rickett's was going to send u down(he did score)... also had to this as a bonus, JJ's goal v West Ham in a 1-0 win, epic goal and a real moment of elation.

Bolton 4-3 Reading - absolute epic, who knows if Branagan didn't save that penalty how our future would have panned out, moments like that are so rare that they can change your clubs destiny, Wilbraham's goal didn't real lead to much after it in terms of  following season success, but maybe that moment had to happen for us to be in this moment right now under IE?

* The final whistle v PNE on the last day of 92/3 when we finally get promoted after a decade in the lower divisions.

* The ten minute spell encompassing the Michael Ricketts goal and the full time whistle at the rags in 2001/2. I spent days if not weeks not quite believing that scoreline: United 1 Bolton 2.

* Portsmouth 1 Bolton 1 at the very end of 2004/5, qualification for Europe for the first time. I was there at Fratton Park that day. Sportsmen and women are fond of saying in media interviews that a big event was "surreal" when of course it's nothing of the sort! Neither was Bolton getting in to Europe but after all we'd been through over the previous 25 years, this was as close to "surreal" as it was possible to get in a footballing sense.

Has Swindon at home league cup semi been mentioned. Amazing night!

Yes Kaydan but worth mentioning again, especially after the postponements and that amazing Mixu goal. Great nights. 👍

Friday night at Hull will stay with me forever... bloke in front of me kissed me full on the lips when the goal went in!

Brannigan saving the penalty at the end of the first half in THAT Wembley game

Away at Blackburn where we took over the ground (in 78?)

I live in Burnley’s territory.

I didn’t go out after that game.

They were apoplectic.

😊 I was actually in the stand that night and I was genuinely excited and don’t remember much during that brief moment of ecstasy so who knows.
What went on in Hull, stays in Hull.😉

Not as apoplectic as when we stole Coyle.

Burnley folk do a very good "apoplectic". Just mention Bastard Rovers in front of them.

The day will come when we are back on terms with them and beyond them...

I was in Burnley for the CC mid-week game when Coyle had come to us.

Walked past the “Big Window” alone around 3PM. It was already very busy with Burnley.
A lad I know saw me and came running out asking me where our lads were.

After nearly shitting myself, I just carried on walking rather fast.

Narrowing down to 3 was always difficult. Going even further, the one match that you could relive?

Old Trafford , 11th April 1979.

I’ve said previously that growing up amongst Reds was difficult. I wouldn’t go as far as to say bullying or physical abuse but constant ridicule took its toll. I had issues. The previous December 22nd. we’d beat them at home 3-0.

On the Boxing Day following, we had a party at ours and over half were Reds. They blamed the frozen pitch and the referee and sign of the zodiac etc. etc. and just wait till the match at OT. One of the Reds was in charge of ticket sales at OT and he actually gave us free tickets in the Scoreboard End. The Bolton fans in front of us.
when Frank put in number two when he only had Bailey to beat, I honestly thought I’d died and gone to heaven.

It’s a funny old game football.
@Steejay I’ve changed my mind.😊

What a boring pointless thread, nobody's going to be interested in this are they?

Joking aside, great to read the memories, I can't add many that haven't already been said, other than maybe Caldwell scoring 5 v Walsall, 8-1 in 83.  This was a time when we were shit, just relegated, crowds were terrible, nobody watched Bolton and then suddenly we got headlines for the right reasons for the first time in years because an electrician had scored 5.  But course its not in the top 20 never mind top 3.

All those listed above, I think I had the privilege/luck to have attended every single game in England bar a few of the pre-78 one's.  Promotions will always be top for me but literally dozens of other games/moments, I could do a top 50 quite easily (when I've got more time on my hands).

Boro game is a good shout, as is the West Ham home game when JJ scored to basically keep us up and Joe Cole had a paddy.

Beating Arsenal at home when Anelka scored his first 2 goals (3-1 I think) - we were just so fucking good at football and our world class striker had just started firing. I remember watching Campo play that through ball and Anelka run in behind the defence and slot it when one-on-one and just thinking that I’ve only ever seen goals like that from the very top teams, and now we score them.

Missed loads of these mentioned because of work, playing football, cricket etc 🙄

Still got some good memories though.

Fulham 78

I'd be 9 at the time

Must have been my first celebration of us winning something.

Remember getting on the pitch and booting a bottle of champagne into the net.

Liverpool 95, League Cup final.

Ok, not the result we wanted but I got to take my dad to the game.

Look on his face when our team walked out, I'll never forget it .

Plymouth, pizza Cup.

A nothing trophy really.

But after all the shit we'd been through,  it was just a huge release for everyone involved with the club, what a day.

Daft, but one of my best days as a wanderers fan.
