You can add 2 losses to Tranmere to that as well. 3-0 at home being one of them (which I’d managed to blank from my memory!)

In fact, if you exclude the football league trophy and just look at those where there is a genuine rivalry that the players would feel it - Wigan, Blackpool, Stockport, Tranmere

W1, D1, L9

Then there’s those that have a bit on it but not in the same category - Oldham, Carlisle, Accrington

W4, D0, L4

Then there’s Fleetwood which although geographically in a similar place to a few, there’s absolutely no needle whatsoever

W5, D0, L1

I’d love to have gone up last season and get to play Blackburn, Preston, Burnley, and then the likes of Sheff Weds, Sheff Utd, Stoke etc., but actually we’d likely have just been turned over by each of them and had a shite time because we can’t deal with a big occasion.

Truly pathetic and shameful from BWFC. Letting the fans and the town down.

playing two in midfield is in no players DNA

Granted most players are now comfortable playing with two wing backs, but every player can adapt to any formation out there be it 4/4/2   4/3/3   5/3/2 but never ever a 5/2/3

One or two may be a bit more adaptable system-wise than others, we'd only know if they went somewhere else or someone else managed them here. We've a fair number though who, for me, have been signed with very specific roles in mind

The DNA thing was more a mental thing, about attitude, bravery, putting feet in and bodies on the line, running further and harder. It can be levelled at Evatt that it's his job to instil the right attitudes and behaviours into his players but they ought to be able to take a grain of personal responsibility to recognise how the opponents in a local derby are going to get about them, and be prepared to earn the right to play their way by matching the opponents desire, bravery and energy

No, I mean the rationale of "we got beat anyway so might as well have played the youth" is after the fact thinking

I know what you meant.

My point is that with all the data available, the coaching staff should have known some of them weren't up to it, and therefore likely to underperform. At that point, play the youngsters anyway. At least fans will understand and appreciate their efforts.

If he felt they were up to it, then all the more fool him for failing to prepare them and/or play a team capable of competing.

To say nothing in the lead up makes it seem like excuses after the event. Or even bullshit.

Agreed on the Fleetwood comments - no Bolton fan is counting those games in the category of "big/important/needle", the games against them are as relevant as playing Northampton.

Re the championship games you mention - the thought of this team with IE in charge playing those fixtures is scary.  Because you just know we'd either try to take them on by "outfootballing" them, or for the harder fixtures we'd see Charles or Vic up front on their own (as at Birmingham) and we wouldn't get a kick.  What we wouldn't do is nullify the opposition's threat, be organised, hard to break down, and have a determined underdog mentality (eg like Oxford).

Good teams, teams that get promoted are NOT prone to extreme results. When they lose, it isn't 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0. They also don't lose heavily at home. Under Evatt, we are unfortunately a team of extremes, and this is the reason I believe he needs to go

Someone needs to start a fan tv channel. Be atleast some humour after the results this season.

Hopefully Paddy McGuiness doesn't start it then

After the Peterborough game I am sure evatt as convinced himself he was right all along which the 2 man midfield after being forced to drop it shortly after the Huddersfield debacle .
Just shows he as learnt nothing that it does not work against most in this division

They can and do, it just doesn't happen repeatedly

The not getting a booking thing there are a few players on 5 santos matete Schon off the top of my head may be Sheehan . If we have those 3 or 4 out for Blackpool on top of the injuries we would be looking at another drubbing

If those in the edge had got booked would it have been used up in the Fleetwood match ?

Genuine question.

No separate card carry for specific competitions.

I'm being dim, I know, but what does that mean re. them being banned if they'dbeen booked ?

They serve a match ban . Think the cut off is after 19 games so it’s unlikely they will get to that without picking another yellow so it’s a matter of what game they will miss . If santos got booked on Saturday he would of missed Blackpool same for the others one yellow away from a ban

If the players who are on 4 yellows get one more they’ll miss the next league game.

So if Santos, Schon or Matete had have been booked yesterday, they’d be suspended for Blackpool, not the Fleetwood game because that’s a separate competition

That’s bleeding ridiculous when the tinpot fuckers who run the competition are specifying who we can and cannot select.

I hate modern football sometimes.

The qualifying criteria is so loose that it shouldn't be an issue either way. It's Evatt's choice we play such ridiculously high strength teams... And then grumble about injuries
