January 2, 20251 yr Sarcevic publicly criticized him for one. Not everyone is going to publicly slate a manager they don’t like, most would wisely keep it to themselves and remain professional. saying that Dion’s brother put laughing emojis directed at the BWFC vs Lincoln teamsheet as Dion wasn’t included in the starting XI. I work with someone who went to school with Dion and still in touch closely with him. Last year described DC and IE as ‘like best mates’ so maybe that’s no longer the case if DCs immediate family are having a pop at the selection. Morley hasn’t either but the fact he scored a 90th min pen yesterday and then tapped the Wycombe badge says a lot. He must be devastated to be coming back to this shitshow. Seemed like some of our loanees really enjoyed working under IE and appreciative of the opportunity he gave them, Bradley, Traff, Maghoma as examples. Which makes sense, he’d done a good job up until the end of last season but the failure of clinching promotion seems to have really damaged him. And instead of adapting and changing he has doubled down on the method and it has backfired spectacularly. If the players really are all still behind him then it feels like the blind leading the blind. They all need a kick up the arse and a different direction because they’re all playing his method and it’s not working anymore. Id say there’s a 1-5% chance he can pull this back, refresh the squad in January and go on a second half of the season promotion push that ends in success. I just hope we aren’t betting the house on it or we will have one more season of IE’s contract to see out/pay up.

I think Dapo on his own made a massive difference in the league 2 promotion. There were others but he was a game changer. I think Trafford and Bradley carried us massively in the season they were here and Maghoma to a lesser extent when he was here. But there’s many examples of one player carrying a team or leaving a gaping hole when they leave. Suarez at Liverpool, Bale at Spurs etc. obviously we ain’t getting players of that calibre but one or two who can come in and offer something different whether that is a destroyer in midfield, a clinical striker, or a wingback who can both defend AND deliver a final ball, could propel us at least into the playoffs. We have a good team and as much as I’ve hated this last few months under Evatt he can be a decent manager at times and has had us challenging before and playing some really slick stuff. If we are sticking with him until the end of the season then I hope he can recruit a couple of exciting new players and make us dream again. At the minute I really cannot be arsed with us, the team feels lifeless and boring and is crying out for an injection of something.

They had a good relationship, but appreciate it may have soured. I'd take his brother laughing with a pinch of salt. On Sarcevic, did he actually criticise Evatt? Of course there was a falling out, and maybe I missed it, but I don't know that I've ever seen anything with him criticising Evatt. Anyway, agree with everything else you've written. If he takes that 1-5% chance, it'd surely go down as the biggest management turnaround in the history of football at this point.

It feels more likely that they’ll succumb to our contagious inconsistency rather than drag the whole team out of a slump but maybe it is the new year giving me hope 😂. Saw someone on twitter before saying Thomason needs the captaincy taken off him to unlock him. Some said the same about Santos. Is there anyone that can bear the weight of the BWFC armband 🙄. One bloke's version of events, but his description of Evatt's behaviour at the end wasn't great. All tittle tattle, but worth a listen if you can find it. Suspect it tallies with things you've heard about Evatt.

January 2, 20251 yr Author Yesterday we did not play that badly. Dions miss like Pompey away and Orient away last season was horrendous. Tutu should cross the ball and I honestly think we win the game. We were not ‘robbed’ but if we had won it would not have been a robbery either. Schon missed a sitter v Wigan, Collins v Barnsley. As mentioned earlier this is the umpteenth time I have come away from a game thinking this. IE has had 12 months to put this right and has not done. Which is why I am convinced a new manager could easily turn this round. Last season we went about million games without conceding but that was with 3 proper midfield players. At the moment when we attack both wing backs push on but we are short as soon as we lose the ball. IE has said in the good days that it is in transition that we get exposed, this is exaggerated when you are hoping that whichever forward we have playing in midfield will do a good enough job. Neither McAtee are Lolos are genuine midfielders. We have system that with current squad means we look short at both ends. When it matters we win little or no second ball, we can not lump it forward as it is in essence just giving the ball away. IE refuses to change the system so changing him is the best option. As much as I respect our support the level of abuse at the players at the end from a minority was awful. It was a shit result but the players did put a shift in GT was dogs abuse round us and although limited in terms of ability his effort was up there. The team is totally lacking in confidence. I honestly think with a new manager, a few new ideas and just a general refresh we can turn the season round. Hoping that will come from just supporting the current manager is IMO a recipe for disaster.
January 2, 20251 yr Author A lot of talk about IE being mates with certain players and then falling out with them. The fact is that as a manager in any business but especially a competitive professional sport is not there to be anyone’s mate. Can you imagine any good manager being bothered about being mates with players ?

January 2, 20251 yr We are simply not a good side. Thats all I can say at this moment. Every team we have played, look better than us.

I've never been interested in his soundbites. They are generally always bollocks from every manager in the land. But he sounds fucking mental at the minute. He sounds like a man on the ropes with no way out. I still think to this day, we will amass enough points to be in shout with a play off spot come May, in spite of how pedestrian and shite we look at the minute. That's nowhere near good enough though and if he left today I'd be sad as we've had some good times under him, but I'd be relieved it's all over now. He's beginning to do my head in. This is pretty much where I'm at.
January 2, 20251 yr Want him to do well, want him to be sucessful with us. I quite like that we've had the same manager for years, but its' dreadful atm, truly dreadful, and I don't think he even see's why. International breaks, pre season, nothing seems to work, but if you're not watching them train every day, then what the hell is he doing? Nobody can tell me that the way we behave in front of goal is right, looking to pass sideways rather than shoot, trying to get a fancy cross in rather than attack direct, long balls to a player who has 3 men on him, passes missing the target. We can have as much possession as we want but there is clearly no work going into set pieces or getting the ball in the net. Who's our set piece taker as Schon and Lolos are dreadful. Smacks of poor management throughout.

We moved on from him and signed better players and he ended up at Stockport singing Bolton get battered. He can fuck off.

There's a lot of tittle tattle about, situations like ours plus camera phones and social media mean there's bits and pieces flying about every day. Even heard a bit myself today, allied to other stuff that's been put out about the culture / standards off the field, though the source (a mate of my Wigan supporting colleague) leaves me sceptical. I don't really see a set of players who aren't playing for Evatt or have given up listening to him, though can see why Charles might be a bit fed up and why Morley wouldn't want to come back unless Evatt went. All the players have been signed by him, they've all been sold the idea of their attributes fitting his method, they seem to be happy enough with the regime (not surprisingly perhaps). The tweaks have only been minor, no matter what Evatt says, the method and principles are the same, so until someone dramatically changes the off field regime or starts asking them to do alien things on the field there will be little or no dissent. FWIW, last night's Evatt interviews were veering into car crash territory, he must be going to bed at night clutching the FA manual to his chest and rehearsing things to say from it while he's in the shower the next morning. A bunker full of drivel

January 2, 20251 yr I bumped into sarc in Queen’s Park at the end of the season of league 2 he had a personal trainer and he was sprinting up the steps in the park had a chat with him And said I thought he would would be enjoying the summer off he said you need to be fitted for league one he seemed ok of a brief conversation and I thought instead of being on the piss in magaluf was grafting which was good

There's now virtually no-one supporting him, & for good reason. His fragile mental health must be shot. He needs a break & Sharon is doing him no favour keeping him on. Or - Sharon is doing a monumental favour keeping him on. Because he's got all this personal life/mental health stuff going on alongside being found out as a poor manager, but he's boss of a relatively big football club with all the income and stature that carries. Loss of income, loss of status and loss of routine is what Sharon is shielding him from, apparently on the basis that if we spend even more money we might just cling to the coat tails of Reading and Stockport.
