Pubs and Pints.

1. What's the best pub you've ever been in?

2. Tell me what's good about your local and how much is a pint.

3. What sticks out as your best pint moment. After the birth of a child? Celebrating promotion? Curing a hangover?

For me.

1 .A pub I found in Berlin. Was snowing outside on a dark Winters Sunday night.  Fires were roaring and the atmosphere was ace. Proper cozy. Love it.

2. Absolutely love my local.  Sunday afternoon is perfect. Busy and atmospheric but not rammed like a Saturday tea. Decent Sports/Vaults ares for the drinkers. £4.80 for Moretti, £4.20 for driving lager.

3. Me and our call a life saving pint a 'Yeovil'. As we'd been up all night in Yeovil after our 2-2 draw. The drive home was probably the most horrendous car journeys I've ever had. We got in the Golden Eagle and words cannot describe how good that pint was. Proper Terry Waite tackle.

I get your point though. They aren’t what they used to be when I travelled Business Class. Still better than the throngs ‘downstairs’ though.

Manchester was the one I was thinking of in particular. It’s fckin awful.

the one at Dubai is a totally different world.

There are 8 at Manchester. Anyway, my comment on Gonzo’s post was more about the extortionate cost of food and drink at the airport rather than a recommendation for a lounge. 👍

Is that Wigan ?

If that’s Manchester, if you buy another pint I reckon it would have been cheaper to have paid for lounge access. (Probably)

I've stopped bothering with lounges because the food is nowhere near as good as what he's having there

Sandwiches and bog average pasta

Aye you can drink all you can but it's not a selling point for me in a two hour window

No, it is the urban district of Atherton, Lancashire.

As I said, it wasn’t an endorsement of lounge's, it was a comment on the price of food and drink on the main concourses. Having said that, at Manchester, it depends which lounge you go in, the time of day, how much you eat and drink and also, how long you may or could be delayed. The ‘two hour window’ is flexible. For me, it’s more about the comfort than saving a pound or two.

Don’t want to challenge Gonzo of your choice of food but I’d prefer the pasta. Bog standard of not.😊

Terminal 2 has seven brothers bar

Generally riff raff free

Though, as a big fan of early flights, im not too arsed with ale at 4am

In Coogee, there is a Legion Club and a Diggers Club. I’m guessing they are the same. Only went in the Legion on the front looking over the beach and sea. Lovely.

I used to go to Woonona Bulli RSL every Friday for their lunchtime special. A whole flounder with chips and salad for five dollars! It would have fed three.

Cracking value at RSL clubs.

Speaking of pubs and pints, a few of us were chatting about the 'mad years' in English football last night (69-75) in our 'local' (if you can call it that).

One of the subjects discussed was the mental and massive Red Army of the DMB's.

Knew a lad (known as Johnny Red) who worked at Walmsleys pattern shop at the bottom of Union Road although lived in Bury. In the early 70's (in the Frank O'Failure era I recall), he and his mate nicked a pantechnicon in Bury and got 40 odd lads in the back to drive to an away match in London (West Ham from memory).

Did the match and the mayhem then drove it all the way back to Bury and dumped it in a car park at Goshen playing fields as it was known at the time.

This thing had the company name emblazoned upon it and was not exactly inconspicuous. The coppers back then were bloody clueless!

Can you imagine this happening now? Number plate recognition, traffic cameras etc. They wouldn't have got too far outside of Bury.

Not sure about that.

I think airport pints are overpriced ordinary at best. If you had that pint after work it wouldn't be the same. And it's lager. The only acceptable airport pint is an early morning Guinness. Breakfast in a glass followedby another, then a mad dash to the gate. With Mrs. Fogarty moaning down my earhole about the second pint.

Been supping my favourite ever draught ale in a pub this week. Hercules ale. normally brewed in November to drink in the run up to Christmas there has been a small batch brewed for a competition this month.

6.5% ale and epic flavour with every mouthful

Crazy nights in pubs havent been beaten since the last night at Burnden ,Durty Nellies back in the day before and after our last game back in our true home.

I meant the meaning of it rather than the actual taste or price :D

...I'm way past having pints at silly O'clock just for the picture mind.

Nobody actually wants that pint.

Has to be past 10am for me.

Last few early flights I've had I've just had a brew and a bacon butty and I have to say it's amazing how much less stress the whole experience is.

As you say, it's more about what the pint signifies than the price or quality.

Though I think most people are just shit scared of flying and need the brave pill

Best pub I've ever been in was Mr Pickwicks in Geneva, couldn't get tickets for the Lichtenstein game so staying in there to watch the game.

My local £3.40 for John Smiths, plenty of entertainment on over the weekend and popular quiz on Weds.

Best pint was at the England v Holland semi-final, I reckon everybody's went up in the air when Ollie Watkins banged that last minute winner in.  Most lads bought two at a time and we all got drenched.
