Was listening to R5 on way over to game yesterday

They were talking about DF leaving his role at Palace and how he will be difficult to replace 

Stephen Warnock was doing punditry and was talking about how he wasn't a great manager but is a great director of footballer 

Said from working with him at Bolton he was a student of the game and his training sessions were intense, most players didn't like them but SW said he did because he liked his attention to detail

Thete we're some poor ones who lasted no time back in the 70's. Mulhall, Stan bloody Anderson, Jimmy McIlroy, Jimmy Neadows. I image we were a shambles back them & they came & went achieving nothing.

For me, Sammy Lee was such a mistake, Megson sucked the life out of the place, Coyle appeared to breathe life into us but then removed it. Parkinson, as above, made me not want to watch. Evatt the same, & what arrogance from such a man of suck little substance.

But the worst, for what he threw away, was Freedman. What a crock of shite. Ended up looking like he slept under a bench in Queen's Park.

After about 4 games we played a match at home v, I think, Charlton. It was the dullest football I ever watched & he came out telling them fans how they needed to understand football better & get used to it. It was the first time I ever heard the term "playing without the ball".

He should have been shown the door that very evening.

Away at Palace in January on a snowy day was possibly the worst away day I’ve ever done. Shit ground, absolutely freezing and one of the dullest games I’ve ever watched. Don’t think I did another away until he left

it took over 10 years to recover. And we’ve been there again recently and now we are slowly on the way back again, which is why I love being a Bolton fan, never dull, rarely boring and more often than not playing for something at the end of the season, either a promotion or fighting relegation 😅

Used to see Greaves in Fanny’s on a Friday night sat on his own at the bar towards the end of his tenure. Looked as miserable as fuck and a shell of a man and engaged with nobody. Was a right shame

Far better than given credit for.

I remember him in front of Campo against Arsenal. His constant energy and willingness to run at the fullback protected the Spaniard.

Iirc we were ahead at the time (may have been level) when Megson tool him off.

All protection disappeared, they doubled up onto Campo and turned the game round.

Always sticks in my mind this particular incident, as for me, it was one of the worst substitutions I've ever seen.

Omg, I've just had to check when he actually played for us.

I would have thought it was 2013-14 sort of time but NO much earlier.

So by the mid 60's Bolton could have had

Hopkinson

Hartle, Dobson, Lindsey

Bell, Ball, Edwards

Hill, Lee, Davies, Hunt.

Not very balanced maybe, but I'm sure they'd have coped.
