Want Cov up because I like Super Frank.

Want Stockport up as really can't be arsed playing them again.

Want Chesterfield up as its tasty.

Want Oldham up because I don't mind em.

Don't think Stockport have never been above us in my lifetime (presumably ever)

I don't want them to start now

Also want to beat them sooner rather than later

That means you are less than 33 years old.

3rd division, 1991/92

Stockport, with big Kevin Francis, finished 5th, in the play off positions, but failed to go up.

Bolton, under Phil Neal, finished 13th. Phil Neal was sacked, Bruce Rioch was appointed, and the rest is history.

I remember someone posting about travelling back from an away match (I think after we'd lost) and coming across their supporters when they were in the Conference North, and commenting how truly glum that would be in a "it could be worse" kind of sense

I think it was only about five years ago 😳

That was my first season watching us, though I meant a division above not a few places, I can handle a few places

No. They have never been in a higher division than us. Prior to this season, I believe 1991/92 was the only time they’ve ever finished above us.

Think we’d been at Sheff Utd and they’d been at Gainsborough

Remember that night game when we had 13k on thinking it was massive.

Think we got beat 2-1

I remember us beating them midweek in our promotion session 2-1

Got interviewed by Dave Higson before it

I remember when Stockport were in conference north only 6 years ago and they played at Yeovil in the FA Cup 1st round (it got quite a bit of coverage on Radio Manchester).  They took a decent following because it was a chance of a giant killing, won 3-1 to reach the 2nd round for the 1st time in 9 years.

If they played Yeovil now they'd be patting them on the head and calling them plucky.

Yes it was huge at the time, went 2-0 up and Kev Francis pulled one back.

To be fair we don't get 13k on now for midweek games, even though most of us don't have to pay.  Most of that 13k were walking upto the ground paying cash on the night, now everyone seems to be trying without success to get shut of tickets for free 😀

Some limbs on show tonight. Proper footy.

No idea what that lad was doing with the pass back.

Defending for Sunderlands 1st was shite too. RCB didn't get across quick enough.

Thought the red card killed that game last night

Possibly but the blades looked far superior all round and despite their awful play off record I can’t see any of the others stopping them this time.

Imagine being on the wrong end of that in the play offs! Even if you didn’t see the touch, surely you realise there’s a reason why the defender didn’t head it, it was right on his head and suddenly he missed it.

Ah well, fuck Stockport.

Yes, proper atmosphere.

Even though I feel sorry for the Cov defender, clearly distraught at end of game, I always enjoy a pointless pass back to the keeper being punished.  Footballers too refined to do anything other than try to play passes to feet, even it means going back 30 yards to the keeper who can't pick it up.

Defending was poor but both goals superbly taken, maybe Collins would finish the 2nd on a good day but we can only dream of having a player that could score the first.

Its mistakes like that that VAR was supposed to rule out and the reason we'll end up with VAR in the EFL.

I'd be all in favour of them just having a word in the ear of the ref within 10 seconds and stating it was a blatant error.

Unfortunately if we get that we also get 4 minute delays while they draw lines looking for a stray toe nail every goal and so no "limbs" like Sunderland had.

So my vote still goes for mistakes being part and parcel of the game .

When we get a fixture list as dull as our's in L1, I wouldn't be sorry to see Orient removed from it.  Whilst playing Stockport isn't exactly a plum local derby like Blackburn or PNE, I'd rather have 2 games against them in front of near full houses than 2 against Orient any day.

Hopefully one of the 3 Southern clubs go up and Stockport can have a play off hangover.
