Agreed, Notts County or Chesterfield up with Leyton Orient or Wycombe out would make our league look slightly more interesting.

Cardiff, Donny, Bradford, and Notts County/Chesterfield replacing Crawley, Cambridge, Bristol Rovers and Wycombe/Leyton Orient is definitely an upgrade.

Port Vale, Luton and Plymouth replacing Brum, Wrexham and Shrewsbury is much of a muchness.

Orient had a ‘stonewall’ penalty waved away in the 2nd half. Granted 2 wrongs don’t make a right but even within 1 game, 2 shocking decisions did even themselves out.

I’d rather lose the play off final to that offside goal in the 95th minute and have another season in League 1 than VAR be introduced. I’m clinging onto it being completely toned down/ fucked off by the time we manage to get back to the Prem.

If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s no exaggeration to say it’s 5 yards offside. The issue is that a forward flicked it on, at which point he was miles offside, but the ref and liner missed the header and so have gone from the original ball forward. There’s no excuse though, it’s an absolute shocker.

All 6 first leg games played, 4 away wins and 2 draws, so much for home advantage.

In L1 and L2, 7 goals: 3 pens, 2 headers, a goal that was miles offside, 1 shot from proper build up (that Walsall left back looked decent). 

It feels like other (relatively successful) teams play a different game to us, its effective, physical and a bit functional and boring.

On average, you would expect more away wins in the first round.

Good point - I'll be honest I hadn't taken into account league positions!

On the other hand...Sunderland, Sheff U and Walsall have a combined record of 3 wins in 26 games, they weren't necessarily favourites for their ties against relatively in-form sides.

It will be interesting to see how the 2nd legs go, I bet there are a few more away wins to come not unlike us v Barnsley a year ago.
