I reckon everyone else can see perfectly clearly that a win is possible. Same with a draw. Might not happen of course. Quote

Wanderlust Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 Funny how when people try to predict a score, they always give the opposition 1 “just in case”. Quote

Duck Egg Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Challinor's teams get stronger every year. I imagine they'll be up there again this season and playing them away this early, is hopefully a good thing. Quote

Early days if course, but I reckon we will have improved on last season too. We won a hard fought game at Orient last season to start, and fans were made up at the spirit shown. That went well. Whatever happens at the weekend, it won't define our season. Quote

They've lost Olaofe, Horsfall and Collar who were three big players for them last year. They also don't have Louie Barry who was amazing for them first half of last year. He's at Sheff Utd. They've brought in Mothersille from P'boro who's decent but other than that I don't think they have replaced the outgoings. Still time for them to bring in players but I would be very surprised if they finish In playoffs this year. Quote

Was impressed with some of his interviews last season, but he has lost a few important players plus I think one of his first team coaches was rumoured to be leaving. But it’s all about us , early days but we do seem to be a different beast. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 That's the main difference for me. I don't buy the idea that the forward line is an upgrade on what we had last season- it may well turn out to be so- but at the moment it's impossible to say. However, I think we an upgrade on the manager and staff in terms of team ethic and work rate. Without that, a bunch of fine individuals can be nowt but a bunch of flat trackers if the going gets tough. Early days yet, but this lot look together and with a point to prove. Quote
Whitesince63 Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 (edited) We’ve yet to see obviously but the big difference for me this year is in the defence, especially now we’ve signed a proper defensive mid in Erhahon and switched to a back four. Nobody’s putting five past us and we should even be capable of stopping most teams getting even one. With the pace we now have on the wings teams can’t afford to bomb forward unlike last season when they knew we couldn’t hurt them if they did. I’d expect goals to be coming from a variety of players this season not just relying on the strikers so bring it on starting with a win at County on Sunday. Edited July 28, 2025 by Whitesince63 Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Have a read of Lincoln fans' comments about Erharon, in the BN. GT sorted his card situation out last season, these lot think their mon didn't. Plenty of needless cards according to them, and we saw it ourselves here last season. Seems he has a tendency to lose his head at times. Quote

I didn't come away from watching that game (on TV) thinking we showed great spirit or quality, as you say we got away with it. We did have some convincing away wins shortly after (Crawley and Northampton) so it wasn't all bad early season, but that was very average at best. Hard to believe now that Arfield started, with Morley, McAtee, Matete and Tutu on the bench! Quote
CJG Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 That isn't true. We took the lead at Orient last season. Charles scored first and Victor Adeboyejo got the winner. Quote

I read the initial comment as that they get stronger as the season goes on - hence saying that playing them early in the season may be a good thing. By the end of October last year even we were above them. I recall a previous season when their fans were on Radio Manchester a few months into the season saying Challinor had taken them as far as he could. Obviously, they ended the season with promotion.
