  • This is now my des-res in Yorkie Land. 10 minute walk up across a sheep field and we're on the coast to coast walk... we follow this for a short distance onto the moor then cut off along a track

Yorkshire's finest.

Peter Sutcliffe cleared the streets of prostitutes

Harold Shipman got NHS waiting lists down

These people should be applauded not derided

Don't encourage them FFS. Don't let them congregate either. They'll form a brass band.

The red rose has it all the way when it comes to football. We all know it.

Didn't do much today!

Tossing away a decent opportunity.

It’s close.

But they’ll never be better than us.

Recently had the absolute displeasure of meeting an absolute arsehole from Huddersfield.

May have mentioned it elsewhere.

A loud, vacuous, semi-barrel chested union convenor type.

Stood with with feet pointing outwards on the diagonal, utterly ignorant, gradually incoherent, before pissing himself and vomming on the floor.

This was at my brother's place; where he had never been before and was unknown to virtually everyone there.

A grotesque waste of his parents genetic material.

I went to Halifax the other week for the first time in my life and really enjoyed it.

Peace/Piece Hall is a belting place and loved the pubs and little gaffs in the town centre.

Some lovely places in fairness. It's a big area after all.

Plenty of weirdos too.

In East Kilbride as we speak, been chatting to a load of pensioners from Leeds who are staying at the Holiday Inn here, en route to Edinburgh. I thought they'd taken the wrong route but they explained the hotels in Edinburgh are extortionate this weekend with the events.

Fair play to them, they're half cut and having a fair swill 🍻

Must admit when they said Leeds Whites in that awful accent, I thought they were ex lovers of our resident ex miner, as they were in their 70's, had no teeth, smoked like an Okocha free kick and had a jar in their hand 🍻

If you know, you know

Definitely a tainted past 😉

Love Yarkshire

Spent a fair amount of my childhood over there

Went to uni there

Visit the county regularly to this day

Only problem is the folk

Opinionated, stubborn, demanding, bellicose, bloody-minded, argumentative

Mother is a Yorkie :D

Indeed. And some posters on here have met her. She’d fit right in 😀

Some folk on a different forum originally thought that was Peter Sutcliffe's house. They had to be corrected rather harshly 🛠

Thats it.

The rest don’t matter. 😉

Yorkshire is Lancashire with less rain

I'm in the white rose county as I type... was wondering what the flags were about

Yorkshire is alreet

Some incredibly good people and places.

But a right set of knobheads too.

In th’old days played football on a Sunday morning one week was Holmfirth - we’re last of the summer wine was filmed. Next week was Holmewood were Rita Sue and Bob 2 was filmed . Sums up the contrast round here but guess loads of places are like that .

Piece Hall in Halifax as Gonzo mentioned is a great place. Perfect example of how urban regeneration can work.

Like you, we have a caravan but in Waddington. Before the boundary changes it was in Yorkshire. Now it’s in Lancs. It celebrates this by having both a white and red rose on the welcome sign as you enter. Seems fair to me.
