Not seen the protest marches in London, then?

Or convenient to just ignore it.

The "Palestinian" flag was also created by a terrorist organisation: the PLO.

Another group with an anti-jewish rhetoric central to their cause.

So often folk say our flag has been abused and used by the far right.

Firstly, if so, then it's perfectly reasonable for other people to "take it back"

Meanwhile the PLO flag is, by definition, representative of an extremist philosophy.

Christ that’s one hell of generalisation.

I’ve seen some people in the media displaying Hamas flags at these demos. And some anti semitic comments.

The Palestine flag isn’t an extremist or terrorist flag. Why can’t they have their own state & flag?

You’re making some claim if you’re assuming anyone flying it is supporting extremism.

That’s equally as daft as suggesting anyone waving our Turkish/Palestinian patron saint flag is ‘far right’.

Edit: Just catching up on previous comments & can see it wasn’t created by the PLO anyway 👍

The drizzle will soon return and bring this isle to heel with its usual general apathy.

Yep - everyone is desperate to change the world when it's plus 20 degrees.

Then they turn their attention to cheap boxes of fireworks and deals of Carling once it gets a bit sunnier.

In a weird way, I think we probably needed something like this. I mean it's not exactly the most intelligent protest - but at least it gives a strong message without causing any harm. Other than making roundabouts look shit.

I wonder how it feels to be a non white British person sitting though all this though. Or how you explain it to your kids if you're from a non white family.

I do think Brits in general would welcome (non white) people with open arms if they flee the flag.

We probably need a war which no white Brits fight bravely in before they're ever accepted to be honest.

A lot of our thickoes are stuck in 1945 anyway

Additionally - Farage is a better orator than Starmer - so he's going to need a lot of coaching before any leadership debates.

This problem has has been bubbling along under the surface for a while now - and probably needs sorting one was it the other so that we can decide what kind of country were going to be.

I stopped believing that we are a warm open country that we're happy to take people fleeing persecution a long time ago - and sadly now take any Tom, Dick or Harry.

We've got to draw a line in the sand. Get tough. Build our military and start being a player on the world stage again.

A definition of "metropolitan elite " for those us that live in Bolton could be helpful

The elite belong to exclusive groups rather than mix with hoi poloi:

Islington wine bars

Notting Hill Coffee shops

Chipping Norton shepherd's huts

Raynor now investing in Brighton

They concentrate on their pecking order at the trough of public admiration prior to sitting in the Lords with underwear Queens and oligarchs

Nice work if you can get it and because we're British we tribally worship them in football forums and the like believing each one will be the next Messiah.

Fair point, either way, a lot of people out protesting about something or other. I hope @bolty58was there with his water cannon

It's only 4,000kms away. I was trying to find a very high powered one. The great unwashed of Antifa and the Palestinian 'supporters' could have become washed.

Bankruptcy beckons.

We need to put up the barriers for a few years and concentrate on getting things sorted domestically, no more involvement in overseas conflicts, build 42 hospitals, stop hospices closing and sorry, you can't come in and if you have got in, you can fix our potholes

Aussies complaining about immigration 🤣🤣🤣

To be fair most people are pissed off here about mass immigration when the cost of housing is through the roof. It's a little tone deaf. We've never earned so much but never been as poor at the same time. And we are far from the worst off.

I think the Labor party need to do something or at least be seen to do something. More people are getting more resentful.

Immigration is not the reason why house prices are through the roof.

Are you over in Oz too then?

It's hard to tell from your post other than the fact that you missed a u out of 'Labour'

We dont take in that many immigrants i comparison.

When we stop blaming the poorest for our country's ills then maybe we have start looking at ourselves.

We have been failed by multiple governments but that isnt on people coming here. We need to take the discourse to any government - and stop pretending the failures are not because of us.

Its a mixture of apathy and misplaced arrogance and its sad to see what we have become as a country.

We can debate the influence on it or not all night, but it's what it's perceived to be.
