One thing is certain though, if some bellend is telling me I should have to wear one, then that’s only steering me one way. The poppy is all about fund raising for the British Legion who support ex servicemen and their families in need. Just pay cash for once a year in the Co Op and put your change in the tin... pick up a paper poppy if you feel the need but just put a few coppers in the tin. The symbol has been hijacked, for the record I can't recall my Dad, who was a Normandy tank veteran wearing one or my wife's Dad who flew 50 missions in Lancasters. They weren't members of the Legion and just got on with life after the war without needing support It's your choice and they would stick up for you if they were still here amongst us.
November 12, 2025Nov 12 I bought one, it fell off, and although I picked it up, I don't know where I put it. Not good for properly waterproof coats neither. The donation is the important bit- I've used the RBL website previously.
November 12, 2025Nov 12 I always get a metal pin badge, goes back to days of wearing a suit. Just stick £10 in tin, it is on a coat but never switch to other ones. It was only a few years ago they started putting dates on them. Assume people were recycling them next year. Edited November 12, 2025Nov 12 by Ani

What a fkin mess. I mentioned then other day, our biggest asset for keeping them away (a big moat) is in fact our weakness.

Aye I know that. My grandads and their brothers all fought, one is buried in Arnhem and another lost his leg in North Africa. I can’t remember any of them ever wearing a poppy either.

November 12, 2025Nov 12 The flag flying seems to have moved on to the poppy and remembrance. I was in Clitheroe over the weekend. Hundreds attended the service as usual. Symbols of remembrance don’t get much better.

This year was the first for ages we didn't go to a Remembrance Service, we just stayed at home and quietly reflected and dipped into regimental diaries and log books.. we both discussed it and agreed we weren't comfortable with all this poppy-christmas stuff and overt nationalism.

Him and folk like him are why I donate every year and try and support elsewhere. Grampa Spencer was an accountant for the RAF so escaped active duty. Wasn't old enough to talk to my other grandad about his time in they army before he passed away.

March 5Mar 5 Reads like you have a hangover this morning! Sentiments are right though. World's biggest terrorist and killer of his own people getting vigils etc in this country. Manchester University should grow a pair and lob out any students attending. Clearly they won't though.
July 29Jul 29 Author I am on holiday in Scotland this week , had a trip over to Edinburgh today , the amount of Scottish national flags flying was very unsettling . Honestly , to see the " Saltaire" being flown so widely in Scotland is disturbing !At this point i stopped the car and discussed if for our own safety , and that of our mental health we should continue. I considered contacting the police on 999 , but felt they might not see our plight as an emergency. We felt the best solution would be to blindfold Mrs Crawshawbooth , and for me to avert my eyes when approaching any flagpoles. Our anxiety levels were through the roof by the time we reached the safety of of our rental cottage. It did not help that we had to pass several caravan parks to return to safety that had not 1 but 2 Scotland flags flying at their entrances , surely this is a sign of racial hatred towards an Englishman like myself.Does anyone know of a no win ,no fee legal firm that could help me ?..
July 30Jul 30 Was up there myself a little while back.Absolutely no shame in being proud of who they are, and flying the flags.Good on them too.The cunts! 😁
