Are the BBC making "anti patriotism" fashionable? - don't talk soft. Just because somebody doesn't want to hang a £2 JD Sports England flag from the nearest lamppost, or make their house or pub look fucking ridiculous, in the name of attention seeking (see below) it doesn't make them unpatriotic. Wait till you see the fistmaster5000 remembrance edition. Has lest we forget scribed on the sperms collection tray and jabs away at exactly the same speed as a WW1 assault rifle used in battle by our forces. It also leaves your bum hole looking like an actual poppy.
October 22, 2025Oct 22 The BBC even made Cookie Monster wear a poppy they're that worried about poppy backlash.

It does in Bolty’s eyes. I’m not sure what he means by a reckoning? Maybe special camps for all the traitors where they sing the national anthem every morning & watch GB News until cured ? Players aren’t being told by employers that they must take the knee or wear a poppy. It’s more a case of not wanting the drama that comes with not doing it. Fair play to Calvin Lewin at the weekend, he gave valid reasons for it. Can also respect JamesMcClean for his rational behind the decision not to wear a poppy. It’s insane how much his decision triggers people.

Greta Thunberg is a dick, but it's amazing how many people (generally middle aged Gammons) she manages to trigger. I sometimes wear a poppy, I think I did a couple of years ago, but I generally don't, it doesn't really mean anything, I just forget to get one. My favourite though is when you see football fans, buying the club badge/poppy badges in a pub off some scrote and proudly wearing them, as though they're both a superfan and also supporting the poppy cause.....when really, they know they've actually been made in China for about $1 each, and fuck all money actually goes to the Royal British Legion Edited October 22, 2025Oct 22 by Sweep

Not any more really, similar reasons to you tbh. But I’ve always done something at work around the topic, I do think it’s important we remember and discuss the sacrifices people made. Can’t help but also think about the pointless sacrifices and young lives wasted over the years. Particularly WW1, Vietnam & even Iraq. Patriotism isn’t always a force for good. Wilfred says it better than I ever could,

WTF are you on about you gobshite? For the record, I completely agree with your first paragraph. Who has suggested that everybody should go along to JD Sports blah, blah, blah? Certainly not me. I wouldn't go to the trouble but for those who feel the need then they shouldn't be forced not to. I'm sure you will agree? I wouldn't trust the BBC (from a news perspective) along with any of the other mainstreams like ITV, 4, 5, Sky etc. All complicit IMO in a pernicious belittling of that little dot on the globe which has provided so much to so many for so long. GSTK. Rule Britannia. No surrender.

A little common sense is all that’s needed. “Support the country you live in, or live in the country you support” ”Traitor” The irony of these morons , forcing their view on everybody & calling anyone who disagrees a TrAiToR. Reminiscent of National Socialism. Where the fuck do they expect this fella to go live ? These types of videos have been a constant since the movement began. Not shining a very nice light on it are they. Also seen a few videos doing the rounds of folk harassing asylum seekers outside hotels. One even broke in & started filming in their rooms. (Can’t even be legal surely) Turns out one poor lad had lost his family back home & one of his kids during the journey. There are some proper emboldened pricks about these days. But when you’re of the TMJ mindset, that these men should all be treated as “rapists & knifemen”, then you’re going to think this type of behaviour is okay. And even necessary.

November 12, 2025Nov 12 Haven’t worn a poppy in years. No particular reason for it, mainly as I don’t have cash on me anymore. One thing is certain though, if some bellend is telling me I should have to wear one, then that’s only steering me one way.

I buy the pin badge every year, it usually goes straight on the cork board when I get home.
