Townsend dropped me from a final that was being played on Burnden, after I’d played in every game for four years, the cunt. And he slippered me as I was best friends with my mate, who he fancied. Norris caned me twice, Roberts once, Hutchinson once. I was innocent every time. Sounds like fucking borstal doesn't it! All true, Townsend was indeed a cunt. I was always innocent too! I'd forgotten about Norris. Quote
Gravel rash Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 “Hull City at home was another. Five early arrival Lever Enders clearing out a couple of hundred Hull fans. Zulu - dear departed VB was one of the five as were you if I remember rightly? Zulu Jr. saved me getting my head stoved in that day. The best drop kick to the back of someone's knees I can ever recall It's amazing what beer, adrenaline and an overdose of testosterone can have you do “ T’awreet Bolty? Zulu Jr here! 😀 Hull having a good season, brought a load of fans and ran across the pitch into the Lever End, long before kick off time. They then realised that Bolton were coming in the ground, squared up, for a few seconds, then legged it back out quicker than they came in! Breightmet lads, Reidy, MS aka Scosh, BW aka Moose, GW, VB you and the Zulu’s …amongst others😀 Saw the Hull fan sneaking round the back of you for a surprise attack , so I sneaked round the back of him and got him first😂 Two lasting memories - Hull fan vaulting the fence to get out and giving it the v sign and big “Fuuuck Offfff” to the Boltoners as he went, he got half way through each before VB sparked him on to the running track, breaking his hand in the process. RIP lad. Scosh and GW continuing the chase across the pitch, catching a couple in the centre circle and leathering them. They both got lifted by plod and ended in court. Crazy days! Quote
wackerchackers Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 Townsend took the slipper to me too. My crime? going indoors for a slash at dinnertime. Twat. Quote
Wullie Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 Cant believe you all went to Borstal County Grammar. It closed the same year I started at Deane Quote

Not sure it was that precise moment but VB delivered the best uppercut I have ever seen outside of a boxing ring and virtually lifted a Hull fan over that fence with it RIP indeed. Top lad. There was another lad with me that day. I worked with him at Walmsleys. He was a Bury lad - sadly a DMB - but a big strong lump of a lad who had been 'hearing good things' (his precise words) about battles in the Lever End and wanted a sample. What a fucking game to pick! Manny M - I think he ended up as a journo for the Bury Times. He was a rum lad. Told everyone at work the following Monday that I was a madman. Me. We shrinking violets don't go in for that sort of thing He was the madman. How else do you explain supporting that red shite? I do still owe you more beers mate after you saved my cranium from that half house brick. The next time I am over. Hope all is well with you and the family mate. Same goes for Zulu Snr Quote

This discussion has me remembering Sid Farrand the City fan teacher, Barry Tranter the Wolves wanker physics teacher, Olga Widdowson maths and target of Tranters lust and that horny little girls PE teacher (Miss Winterbottom - should have been Hotbottom) who, when having to stand in for our male PE teacher loved to give us trampoline exhibitions in her tiny pleated skirt and white panties to see how many randy teenage lads she could get standing to attention Any excuse to come into the lads changing room at shower time. It must have been Alan H's monster whang that was the lure. The courts would be overloaded now. We just accepted it as normal. Anyway, sorry for getting off thread topic. That period from '69 to around '75 was mental. The 'mad years' I call them. Police had no idea how to control anything. The Leicester game referred to by Zulu was off the scale. A bloodbath and all the damage in one direction. I can still see a TM lad neighbour of mine whacking an injured Leicester fan with a half house brick whilst the St. Johns ambulance men were carrying him away on a stretcher. VB punched a Hull fan so hard that he broke his first knuckle. Serious mess. Quote
