We have booked on train tickets, I will be using my Senior Railcard for the first time.

i assume I will also have to tell people to sit up straight, get their feet off the seats and be generally unfriendly to my fellow travellers. Not much new.

And demand that some young whipper snapper offers you their seat.

you need some new material

do you go to the games with your eyes closed?

we've yet to win away, we won't be going anywhere if we can't win away

especially against relegation fodder

Giving this one a miss this year.  I probably should admire Burton for punching above their weight season after season but I cant help finding them annoying as well as our usual inability to win there. Last season notwithstanding.

we could be 20th in january, 15 points off and still make play offs

I know we've said it before and know that it's very simple.

But please for the love of god do not give anything silly away to this team at their place!

We're too dependant on getting that 1st goal for a result, cannot go a goal behind and be chasing.

They're near the bottom for a reason. Need to smash them.

Desperate for a win here, got a few boxes to tick. First away win and first win back to back. Those 2 need to be done a lot to be anywhere near the top 2.

They've picked up some big away points recently. Draw at Huddersfield, Draw at Doncaster and a win at Cardiff. But they're yet to register a home win.

Got pumped off Plymouth 4-0 at the Pirelli in their last home encounter. They'll be looking to put that right, having picked up 4 points in their next 2 games (away from home obvs..)

Not a gimme by any stretch. However, first goal and we should be good to go..

we could, but we probably wouldn't

just as likely to drop off a cliff like we did last season

was hoping to see us sustain a challenge for the top two miself, we still can, but the away form needs to improve sooner rather than later

still think we're heading in the right direction, still think we'll get better

just need that away win to reaffirm my thoughts

i'll accept just as likely, though i don't agree

either way,

ought to win here to have any chance of the play offs is just bullshit

I think Bowyer has built a competitive side using journeyman players, all fairly athletic but with hit and miss careers. It’s understandable if they pick up some good results during the course of the season because lackadaisical performances won’t cut it against them i.e. if teams have better quality, they’ll need to bring it to turn Burton over.
They don’t make many mistakes (although we can hope they do on this occasion!) and they compete.
For me it’s a simple equation: providing we make a good start, take our chances and keep the pressure on without getting sloppy if we get a lead - as we did on Saturday - we have the quality to beat them, but we have to bring it. Anything less and it will be a lottery.

We need a win, if only to break the away day hoodoo.

Ok but if we do not win here where are we likely to win ?

well, we could win anywhere

on what i've seen, theres not a game we will play this season that i won't expect us to be competitive

i wouldn't have a problem with a tweak, btw, but it wouldn't be at the expense of either winger (unless forrs goes wide) or burstow

Offering a bit of balance, long term thinking and evidence I’ll side, just, with @Casino

Despite understanding and acknowledging that our away form so far is poor and not winning on Saturday only adds to this. And FWIW, if we don’t win we should be disappointed and accept It’s below the expectations we should have.

But I really do think this must win talk just out of September and if we don’t win here, then it’s never going to happen talk is OTT and reflective of our X-factor must happen now society.

@wakey pointed out some of our historical promotions from L1, and evidence from our past that poor away starts can be overturned and not necessarily when you expect it.

If we were playing really shit away and creating nothing, then I might be more concerned.

What happens Saturday has little bearing on what happens when we go away to Doncaster, Rotherham and Exeter later in the season.

If we don’t win Saturday, it ramps up the pressure against Huddersfield - but I won’t be throwing in the towel and saying there’s no point because we can’t even beat Burton - It would be typical Bolton if that’s our next away win.

Evidence isn’t just with us either. @L/H White @Ani

Charlton were absolutely rubbish this time last year and some wanted Jones out.

And look at Derby above in their promotion season. Ninth after 14 games. They’d had some horrible away performances and had just lost 3-1 at Stevenage.

Nobody would have anticipated the run of results to follow.

While this league is so open anything can happen yet.

While winning at Burton is important, expected, would be the much required kick-start, would start allaying concerns to our away form and would provide the needed result to hopefully put a run together…

…not winning shouldn’t have us asking questions of can we beat anyone away.

I'd take a draw at Burton, and Huddersfield, if it was reflective of the game

I just don't want to see another away game where we spaff enough opportunities to win then concede on any random occasion they attack and come away ruing our performances in either final third
