14 of the squad are out of contract next summer anyway.

I'd expect 2-3 to go elsewhere in Jan, whether that's on loan on permanent, but there's a natural turnover at the end of the season.

True, i just think SS is making sure we do not get a repeat of last Spring when we had five or six not interested and being on the beach in March because they knew they were off in the summer

My 2 penn’eth from yesterday,

I think that’s the first time this season SS has got his midfield pairing wrong. I struggled to see what Morley would bring to the game when I saw the line up and to be honest, I’m still struggling now. Appreciate Simon’s isn’t going to play every game this season, but yesterday was one you don’t drop him. Whilst we’re playing 1 game a week it’s him and someone else. Simple as

Dempsey brought his usual hard work and hard running but many times it was from a deeper lying position than he should’ve been in (if he was expected to be No 10) the only time he found himself central with space was the first 5 mins when Tutu should’ve scored. Forss, definitely gave us a greater option to link and challenged their back 4 more when he was in there

bairstow needs a goal, I like him, works hard, his hold up play isn’t great anyway but up against that CB of theirs yesterday he got no change whatsoever. When Dalby came on I actually think he gave us something to hit and someone who could actually beat their man in the air. Won a few free kicks that a) took the pressure off the back line and b) gave us somewhere to build from in their half

Conway, worst player on the pitch by a million miles. Didn’t hit a white shirt all day and his distribution got that bad that when he did finally find a white shirt it was a foul throw 🤣. The fact neither cogley or Taylor were on the bench compounded the issue and we just had to hope he would work through it and get better. He didn’t.

Early part of the season we’d of been walking out of their having lost 0-1 late on so the steps of improvement are incremental but are there. We move on

I'll probably get castigated and have in past already but Conway, as much as we all love him, is prone to the odd day like that yesterday.

He’s a young lad, still learning his trade and getting used to week in week out football, it’s natural he’ll hit a dip, you do then question is it time to take him out for a couple of games? Rest, refocus etc

With Taylor perfect to drop in I would aye.

He looked proper leggy yesterday.

Like I said, was just what someone mentioned sat near us and wasn’t sure how true it was.

Could have done with some of McAtee's movement up top yesterday.

There’s a reason he was in KFC as our lads were warming up.

I think we fucked up calling off the Stevenage game, it fucked our momentum. I appreciate Sheehan and toal would’ve been missing and Sheehan played well fist half and toal looked good yesterday. Still think we should’ve been strong enough to challenge last weekend

My concern, and a reason for some turnover in Jan, is him, ACD, Burstow being young players who haven't played a full 46 game season of EFL football, any of whom might fade in the New Year. ACD's become the late game changer, resulting in him doing the full 90+ minutes nearly every week. We've also nobody to replicate what he does, even for 20 minutes.

Dalby ought to be able to fill more minutes and give Burstow more rest but the team will have to adjust to make any real use of him.

We're still a bit overstaffed and unbalanced in some areas (3 inverted left wingers, only ACD as an inverted right winger, 4 x supposed no 10s), so I certainly wouldn't be averse to 3 or 4 out and a couple in.

While I don’t think McAtee has ripped up any trees, I do think he’s offered more than Randall, when we’ve seen them both. Despite this, selections over the last month or so, have clearly favoured Randall.

i can’t help wondering if a permanent deal is lined-up for McAtee, in the New Year, and we’re not jeopardising that deal with an injury.

What's the craic with Coggers then?

McAtee done far more in his limited time this season than Randall has for me

Randall

sell him to me

I'm not saying McAtee is great or anything

but he's still done much more for us since signing that Randall has

playing in same position

McAtree - 1 in 4

Randall - 1 in 12

Think he gets a bit of unfair stick does McAtee.

Clearly not the level we need but he's not as bad as folk make out.

He'd do a job somewhere else.

He’s done a job elsewhere hence why we paid a million quid for him

similarly to Randell, he’s a confidence player who appears to need a run of games but there’s an element of impatience that isn’t allowing that run / confidence to build.

rightly or wrongly we all want immediate performances / contributions

We had our pants royally pulled down with both of them. Possibly a measure of how quickly L1 football and the standard of it is evolving but neither of them are capable of making any significant contribution to a team pushing at the top end of the Division.

Getting them both off the books would be at least a partial result, though the hit will be big.

McAtee's the most infuriating player we've had since Beckford, Randall less so, not his fault Evatt thought he was something he patently isn't

McAtee is frustrating as he clearly has something about him and does the odd very good thing.

JR I feel sorry for but just do not see how he fits in. He is totally lacking in confidence, this is a lad who has previously taken a break from the game for his mental health, I just think trying to make it work for him will only make it worse. Hounding him out of the club is just pathetic but I just do not see the situation getting any better for him here.

Mcatee has done more than Randall and Dalby combined. Sadly that does not say much
