Things I didn't know yesterday but I know now.

The melody for the American national anthem originally came from a 18th century drinking song in England called To Anacreon in Heaven.

You're welcome, USA.

Anyone know where the name "blue birds" came from?

Many moons ago knew a Cardiff fan

From a play or a song or summat?

Did wonder if it was Vera Lynn and the white cliffs of Dover. Written by Americans apparently, who had no idea that such birds weren't present in the UK.

Bit tenuous though.

Didn't stop their fans getting pissed off when their owner changed their kit to red though

Leeds were the peacocks at one point.

Note this was contentious for me… I’m wanting to check the definition of premier league- if they say top flight, fair play- but the Swindon kit at the time didn’t feature a Robin, unless the weird looking red green and white S is an aerial view of a Robin? This link could well be wrong

Summat here about Cardiff

Let’s not be contentious Doc, I withdraw my Robins. I didn’t notice ‘Premier League’ on your opener. I do apologise.
