There was a defence and security expert type on Twitter who was suggesting the only card the regime has to play is to present this as the start of another world war in the hope it might persuade their allies (presumably Russia and China) into offering support

Even if he didn't want to commit to offensive action, he should have allowed bases to be used.

Interestingly, flight radar has the fewest planes I've even seen over the whole region.

Nothing over Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Iran itself.

Apart from the odd tanker or fighter.

Which they aren't being allowed to do.

None of them are "canon fodder" neither. We don't treat our servicemen that way.

Anyone that joins nevertheless understands that there may be times when they have to fight.

This isn't about kissing Trump's arse, but about defending nations around Iran, its people, as well as our own.

Too many looking at it through Trump hate spectacles, which whilst understandable, doesn't reveal the full picture.
